    Hello everyone,

I’m needing some help with my pop and lock tailgate lock. I own a 2005 Tacoma access cab pre runner.

Basically the issue is I’m not sure what wire to tap into. Originally I spliced the wires into the solid blue and blue/white striped wire. The only problem with this is that I had 3 solid blue wires, so I’m not sure I spliced into the correct one (could be the problem). When I tried to unlock and lock the tailgate with my key fob; nothing happened. The tailgate lock did absolutely nothing. Now according to my Haynes manual this does seem like the correct wires to splice into so I’m not sure why it didn’t work.

so I spoke to the tech rep at pop and lock who is really hard to get a hold of and he said I needed to splice into the red/blue and blue/black wire. I did this and the lock worked! But it also seemed like there could be an issue with the actuator itself and not pushing the lock far enough to actually lock/unlock it. But the other issue is when I use my left blinker the lock actuates (I laughed so hard). And when I check the wiring diagram the red/blue wire is in-fact the left turn signal wire. I see why the tech rep told me this because the instructions say for 4 door (which I have an access cab so is it 2 or 4?) splice into the blue/red and blue/black. Maybe this is also why the actuator wasn’t working quite well.

So I’m a bit lost here. What can I do to check and see what wires I should splice into? And if anyone has experience doing this on a 2005 Tacoma access cab please let me know!
