I'm trying to remove the piece of the dash that is directly over the glove box. I can't find any videos on Youtube. I hope somebody here can help. Thanks.

The dash removes from the drivers side starting with the sill piece below the door and working your way up and to the right. You’ll need the instrument cluster, head unit bezel, and glove box removed as well and might need to remove the passenger sill and kick panel as well.

I enjoyed perusing the post you provided but saw nothing about removing my part. See my post for clarification.

Unfortunately, you're confused but @bagleboy and @Dm93 are steering you in the right direction. Maybe you shouldn't be rude to them. The part you referenced is "the dash". It's not part of the dash, it's the biggest of the dash - it IS your dashboard. The part with the dimples like you mentioned is not a separate piece which you can remove on it's own. You have to pull the entire dashboard as one main unit.

Not sure why you want or need to remove this but I suspect you are already over your head here. If you intend to remove the core dash you are in for a long weekend.

Quick. Guide. Remove A pillars covers. Remove left and right kick panels. Remove lower dash panels, remove glove box. Remove center console. Remove instrument cluster. Remove radio center dash pieces. Make sure to mark all plugs for reference. Then there will likely be 8 bolts and the dash pad will come off. It’s not a super hard job it’s just a lot of pieces to keep up with. Good luck.

I'm not confused, I'm ignorant. This is my first Tacoma and I'm here trying to cure my ignorance. I don't know what you considered rude but that was not my intention. The other posters don't seem offended. Anyway, the pic of the dash has convinced me that this project isn't worth the effort. Thanks all and I apologize if I offended anyone.

Never removed it myself but all that other stuff comes out first. I stopped a few pieces shy of that but if you have to get to the heater core and air box or whatever, once the coveting stuff is out you’ll be able to see the bolts holding what’s left. You never said why but there are plenty of mods that involve this knowledge so it’s worth knowing.

"WHY" is a long story that I'd hoped to spare everybody but you asked for it. My basic problem seems to be pretty common. It's the ticking noise from behind the glove box. I've read all the threads about it and fixing it would be no problem if I were much younger. However, at 79 years old I have greatly reduced ranges of motion for all limbs and also general agility/mobility. I cannot force myself under the dash so I was looking for a way to access the problem from above which led me to hope the panel above the glove box might have a few perimeter screws/snaps to remove it. My current solution to the ticking is to unplug the culprit which took me a couple of days. I may have to live with that which isn't such a chore since I live in Arizona and the AC recirculation door is always closed anyway. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks again to all who spent their valuable time on me.

A solution might be to take the passenger seat out. This would allow you the ability to lay on your back in that area and get under the dash. Not sure it would be all that comfortable and getting up would probably be the worst part but you can remove the seat in 5 min and one plug. Just a thought.

No need to remove the dash to access the blend door servos on 2nd gens, just need to find a young guy that can get in there.

The discomfort I can tolerate. The problem is getting into & out of the required position. I don't think anybody can fully understand without being old. I'm just glad my brain hasn't turned to mush. Thanks again.
