IMG_4819.jpg Vinyl wrapped the other tank piece. Came out great the first time today, installed the M4 GP exhaust. Put the ride on tire sealant/balancer in the tires.
Went for my first ride on the bike. The bike is so comfortable with the helibars and super smooth. The exhaust is WAY TOO LOUD!! I ordered a quiet baffle. The front brakes are solid and the bike is fast.

I just noticed the pattern going different ways!! LOL. Not going to change it.

Great looking bike! I need to bail on my XSR900 and decide what should come next. I don’t know that my wrists and back can handle the GSXR ergonomics anymore. Seeing your motorcycle makes me miss my ‘04 Mladin GSXR1000 a lot though. Suzuki makes a brilliant sport bike.

The helibars make a huge difference. I am going to be 57 end of this month.

lol! I only have you beat by a few months. I’ve had a bunch of different bikes of all kinds. I loved them all. I was thinking about a KTM 390 SMR. I loved my DRZ400SM, and I’ve never owned a KTM. Right now I know there’s someone looking for more power who wants to make a trade! My friend’s GSXR750 was really an amazing machine. Great find.

Set up the preload front and rear and set the rebound and compression. The front forks I have the preload set to full hard and got 33mm rider sag and set the rear to 30mm rider sag.
Drained out the fuel and put in half a tank of non ethanol 91 fuel. Then I went for a ride and filled up the rest of the tank with of course non ethanol fuel. The bike runs awesome and the helibars have made a huge improvement in comfort. I wore ear plugs today and the exhaust is definitely too damn loud. Baffle is shipped and on the way. I had one hiccup. I about 1/4 mile from home on a back road and decided to try a couple brake tests. Well there must have been air in the master cylinder in the front brake because after my second stop I noticed the brake getting harder. Then I tried to pull away and the front brakes were locked up. I pulled the tool kit out and tried to use the pliers to open the bleeder valve on the master and couldn’t. The pliers suck. A guy stopped and had a crescent wrench in his truck and I cracked the bleeder and it released the brakes. I rode it home and bleed the master again. All seems good for now. I did add a few tools to my tool kit though.
Then I went out for a rip in my 2023 klx300. Damn that bike is fun.

When out this morning and took the M4 exhaust off and installed the stock muffler on the link pipe. Fit perfect.
Also found out that when I installed the aftermarket brake lever I didn’t get the plunger in the lever correctly. That caused the plunger to no be able to release pressure. I am very very lucky I didn’t have an accident. So I reinstalled the stock levers and will just stick with those. Also did another front end brake bleed to make sure I have 100% of the air out of the system. I went for a ride and the exhaust sounded amazing. Louder than stock with the cat delete but not too loud. The quiet baffle for the M4 exhaust will be here Wednesday so if I don’t like it I will powder coat the stock can and just run it.
This bike is amazingly comfortable with the helibars. I get no discomfort at all. There is rain in the forecast for the next week so riding is on hold for now.

I sold the pitbull rear stand that came with the bike on OfferUp. Come to find out the guy is a coach for the track day organization that I use. He said he would give me some pointers when I go. Should be pretty awesome.

I’m in my late 60’s. Have been looking at a ‘busa. How crazy is that! Since riding a 2nd Gen I never have gotten over the easy power. Smart enough not to do ultra high speed runs, but that big power and fairly comfortable riding position makes me want to do it before I stop riding for good. In reality a GT would be a better bike for me.
BTW Nice job on the gixxer. The helibars are a game changer.

Picked up a new helmet off CL. Arai contour-x for $280. The guy got it free from a shop he had a bunch of engine work done to his Ducati. We both came out good on this deal. These helmets sell on revzilla for over $700 and the cheapest I could find was $599. Very happy. Did a little vinyl wrap on the sides.
Also received and installed the DB killer in the M4 exhaust. Didn’t ride yet but started in the garage and it’s quieter.

Put the new graphics kit on and the body work is back on. The bike is now finished. Here are the before and after pics. IMO much better.

Well after sitting for a while I finally got the bike insured. I took it out last week for a ride and the baffle made a big difference. Sounds perfect without being obnoxious. Still super comfortable and fast. Can’t wait until the weather gets better so I can ride it more.
I did buy some clear tank grips but have not installed them yet. Otherwise 100% and ready to go. Planning out what track days I want to do this year. Hopefully I can make at least two this year.

Nice work, only thing i would recommend would be welding the cat delete/link pipe over the clamp, it will work fine as is but could have minor leak and it can adjust over time when the exhaust moves. Had an 18 600 for a while, it was a great bike but being over 6' it was too small for me and switch to an r6 and then last month a 2024 zx6r.

Clear grips FTW, always my transparent color of choice, will rarely get too dirty and mine had a lot of track days on them.
