I grew up thinking winter was from October to May. Was I wrong?

We are currently exiting Third Winter and beginning Mud Season. Maybe.

 

Might be a 4 winter year, otherwise.

 

I thought winter was over.

No, that was second winter.

 

I lived through a similar ice storm in the 70s. Limbs breaking off trees, no power for a full week.
A little ice, not a big issue, thick ice? Disaster.

Weird week so far. Saw the Deftones in CHI last night and face is melted. Tonight I'm feeling nostalgia for undergrad days and listening to marching band songs, no particular reason none at all. Great night to be a Badger. Learned there is a secondary fight song? Hell yeah! Either I did not know this before or was too drunk those years to remember (both are possible). Had a roommate in college at UW Madtown in marching band, mad respect for the work they put in it's no joke.

Random fun fact I came across...when referring to artificial intelligence, the preferred pronoun to use is "ai" because "they" implies personhood and "he/she" imply a gender which of course is laughable until they start going all Terminator and then I gleefully proclaim they can be whatever they want and please don't exterminate the humans. Someone ask Grok how ai feels...err, computes...about marching bands and things today lol.
