Pretty sure I just noticed my 16 doing this today. I’m at 74,xxx miles so I know the dealer won’t do it without a charge. Has anyone done this themselves? No way in paying the dealer $1300 to do it.

I see the aftermarket unit listed on Amazon below. Toyota website shows the OEM pump for ~$1200 and all other OEM vendors online still want over $800. Has anyone tried the aftermarket unit? That seems like a big price difference and too good to be true.

I can absolutely live with the noise (assuming it doesn't get worse). Is this noise indicative of a more serious problem?

One of the reason I sold my truck when I did was the noise was getting worse and I was just passed the 60k mile coverage. Noise was Loud and erratic enough for people to point out when pulling into a parking space.
I could see the idle jump around here and there as the noise became more and more frequent.
I even took it to my personal mechanic and replacement would be north of 1k. Toyota states new pump will only temporarily fix the issue as the pump is known to fail.

After 6 years and 35,000 miles, I got the crickets for the last two tanks of gas. Filled with Shell 91 E10...
All previous fills were with Shell 91 E0.
Went back to 91 E0; no more crickets.

Has anyone been able to correlate ethanol in the gas to the chirp and or failure of the HPFP?

I got this noise on my 2020 today, switched from my usual Chevron mid grade to shell premium on a mostly empty tank.
After 10 minutes or so I began to hear a distinct tapping noise at idle, another 20 minutes of idling while pinpointing the noise and the engine began to sound like a swarm of angry crickets.

Is the TSB applicable to 2020s,

How much do these pumps cost to buy and how long does the swap take to do oneself?

Funny you should mention this, I got this problem almost immediately after filling from near empty using shell 91 e10 when I usually use Chevron 89

Lucas top cylinder cleaner and lubricant in the tank seems to have gotten rid of the noise for now.. Going to be sticking with Chevron going forward

Close windows and pump up the tunes, problem solved. Drive it till it breaks down (it won't) and then rectify the situation.

Gonna bump this thread because I may have narrowed it down to this. For anyone with knowledge of this TSB. Is part 23101-0P020 an updated part?
