That’s good to know. I’m hitting Moab in the fall with these tires and I was wondering how they will do in the desert.

I'm trying to decide between these, copper stronghold at, and copper rugged treks. Three different tires but in 285/70r17 they're all similar weights.Currently running the ridge grapplers.

These seem like a good compromise between some ruggedness and on road compliance

Can anyone compare road noise of these to the Cooper ST Maxx? I'd have to believe these would be quieter. My second set of coopers haven't worn great and after rotating them this last time I'm getting considerable shakes at 50mph. I'm over them and they are a tad overkill anyways, but would like to stick in 255/80r17 size and these look like a great less aggressive option.

I’ve never run the ST Maxx’s but the Geolandars are a lot quieter than my old Grabber ATXs, which are a less aggressive all terrain than the ST Maxx’s. Idk if that helps at all.

Out of all the AT/MT tires I’ve had, these are the quietest. Feels/sounds like you’re on a highway tire when you’re on the pavement.

Appreciate it! I've eyed the X ATs also but they are a tad more aggressive.

Placed an order for 255/80r17s in eBay from Priority Tire. $990 for a set, a tad over 1k after taxes. Not a bad price at all.

I'll post photos once they are mounted up

Nice! You won’t regret buying them. I’ve put about 20K miles on mine since I got them and they’re awesome tires. Literally drove to the other side of the country and back right after I had them mounted and I’m doing the same trip again with these tires in the fall.

Whenever this set wears out I’m definitely buying them again. I’ve run a bunch of different tires on my taco and these are by far my favorite and the most practical.

Also, Yokohama has the best customer service of any company I’ve ever dealt with…ever. It’s a long story but they definitely have a customer for life here.

Have you ever had the wrangler territory MT's or cooper AT3 XLT before, and were these quieter and better MPG than those?

How is the treadwear so far too?

The Cooper AT3 4S is discontinued, but the one I'm wondering about is the AT3 XLT. Either way, it would be nice to know a point of reference.

I’ve never had either of those tires. I’ve previously run these on my Tacoma:

General Grabber ATX, Yokohama g003, Maxxis Razr MTs and then the crappy factory Toyos of course.

These are the quietest tire I’ve had on the truck. Treadwear is fantastic, as of today I have 17,000 miles on them and they still look new. It is worth noting that mine are E rated.

I suspect I can get 100,000 miles out of these if I wanted to take them down to the wear bars. I do a ALOT of highway miles and always run E rated tires, which helps with treadwear on these lighter trucks.

Quick update that some may find useful about the treadwear on these tires.

Mine are E rated LT285/75/16. Yokohama has them listed as starting with 18/32” tread depth new.

I just had my truck serviced and the tech put the tires at 15/32” front and 14/32” in the rear. The tires have just over 17K miles on them so far, for reference.

I’m not an astronaut but if I’m doing my math right, and I wanted to really live dangerously and take these down to the wear bars, that means I could get well over 100K miles out of them.

255s came in. Only took 3 days from eBay. Waiting on my new hubs and bearings then I'll get them mounted. Love the more tamed tread pattern compared to my ST Maxx and the sidewall does still have a mild aggressive look.

Nice!! They look awesome in the skinny version. I do love the tread pattern on these. They look a lot like the Open County AT3 to me.

I’m eyeballing the same set of tires to replace my 285 Toyo A/T iiis.

    Edit:

Looks like with Yokohama rebate, 5% military discount, including tax they would be $1164 for 5 at Discount Tire without install shipped to a store. Not too shabby.

Following to see how they look.

Finally got mine mounted today. So far I'm impressed with how quiet and smooth they are. I was worried going from a P rated tire to a E rated would be a significant ride difference, but so far its not even that noticeable. I'm running LT265/75-16 at 35 psi for reference.

Got my 255/80r17s installed. I also had new front hubs and bearings done but these tires are smooth and quiet! Love em so far after driving home from the mechanic.
