Interesting. Good to know! Thanks for the clarification.

I think that’s the way to go, and then you can always add it back if you find you need it. You may need a shorter center pin though. I’ve never looked into that but their customer support is great and would tell ya.

Thanks for all this info. I have a double cab short bed. It has a Leer shell, steel bumper, Decked drawer system, skid plates, etc. Since it is no longer my daily driver I keep most of my stuff in there, like tools, recovery gear, etc. I figure my constant weight is between 700 to 800lbs. I add around 150 lbs when I head out. I might be overestimating the weight of the shell, so I better chech out the actual weight. I thought I was told 600 on that, but that was a long time ago, so I will call Leer and double check.

FWIW I've been told around 200lb for most Leer shells, plus or minus probs 30 to 50 lbs depending on size and model obviously. Fortunately I don't think its anywhere close to 600, especially considering I've turtle shelled it on my shoulders to move around. I'm certainly not putting up 600lbs in the gym haha

Thanks for all of that info.

If you were to go with Dobinsons springs, L59-111-R would be my suggestion based on the added weight you've got on there. You'd be between 2-2.25" of lift.

If you ever needed more load support, we offer the AAL to those which will turn them into the L59-112-R. It comes with the 2 new leafs and the new center pins

So I recently went from Dakar EL095R's (7 years), to Dobinson's 110s. I kept my U-Bolt flip and I'm running Timbren active off-road bump stops in the rear.

The ride quality is a night and day difference. The ride height on my 2nd gen DCSB has my rear hub to fender at right around 23.5". On the 110s, the issue with the second leaf spring hitting the stock shackle is not a problem. It's been fixed.

95% of the time I ride around with an empty bed. I can't rave enough about how much smoother of a ride it is. So far everything is silent. With my Dakar's, after about a year they started creaking and they never shut the fuck up. They lived in a perpetual coating of lubricant to keep them quiet.

Yesterday I pulled a 5x10 trailer with 1.2 Tons of Granite rock. Not to mention multiple trailer loads of mulch. The Dobinson's handled it just fine, and the Timbren's are also worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair... You went from heavy duty leafs rated for 300+ lbs at all times, which would have been way oversprung with no weight, to springs that were actually rated for no extra weight. So not exactly apples to apples here.

You are correct, however I was running the Dakar's with the bigger overload spring removed. So it was a 4+1 setup, as opposed to 4+2.

    The Dobinson 110's are a 3+1.

Still, I agree with your point. I simply want to convey how much better the ride is. It's hard to find springs that give lift without being 'heavy duty' to support constant heavy loads.

You are correct. The 600lbs I thought is the static load the shell can have on top of it.

Has anyone had issues with the Dobinsons leafs doing the "W" like the Dakars do?
