I got a little overzealous with loading flooring material into my tacoma, roughly 1500 pounds of bed weight for a 15 mile highway trip. After the fact I got nervous that I over did it and began looking over the truck. I notice slight asymmetry in gaps between the bed and cab from driver to passenger side, roughly 3/8inch. Underneath there appears to be a minor bend on the passenger side. The truck is driving fine and otherwise not noticeable. Is this something to be concerned about?

Doesnt look like a problem. Generally the cab and bed never line up right, its just the way these trucks are.

Unless you hit some massive bumps while loaded I wouldnt worry about it.

Never heard of this before. I'm no professional, but I think these frames have lots of flex. But I don't think to the point of permanently warping. I see you don't have any rust either. Should be ok.

Thanks guys. Yeah no massive bumps, I drove real slow. I got a bit nervous when I weighted one package of the flooring material and realized just how much I loaded it up.

Might be prudent to inspect your leaf springs.

Leaf springs are original (117k miles) and quite flat.

Like 5nahalf, I have loaded 1400-1700 pounds of flooring three times in the last year.. No problems.

But after this winter and having 200 pounds of sand constant in the bed, I noticed my leafs are looking a little flat during my recent, t-case and diff fluid change…. Will most likely be the reason I get upgraded suspension this spring.

Passed a DC taco on the freeway and it was visibly flexing in the middle to the point they had foam pads on the lumber racks to keep them from hitting the cab roof in the front when they were several inches clear of the roof in the back of the cab. By “flexing” I mean hinged, kinked, and wobbling like jello. I shifted a few lanes clear as I passed and could see it kinked and the foam blocks being compress and released, quite a sight. I couldn’t say whether it was the bed - frame connection that was moving or the frame itself but I suspect it was the bed since that much movement in the frame long enough to be able to use the foam would likely have led to a love bug moment.
