Kids got me an electric for my birthday it has been super handy.

 

Congratulations, I have the same one and love it. Couple of tips, when not using it lay it down on the blade side otherwise you'll have an oil bath wherever it's sitting, which is why I don't fill the reservoir. You can get a DeWalt box from Amazon that it will lay in perfectly, I just lay a piece of pigmat and an old dish towel in the bottom.

on the topic of electric chainsaw i have a different way i do. stihl gas for the real work. but cordless sawzall for everything i do and dont use loppers for. baldes are cheap and incredibly strong when run often at dirt height for stumps. good ot arms reach on a ladder, cheap as its another 100 bucks if i trash it. that and if its saturday afternoon and i want to prune something big after a couple barley pops chainsaw powered anyhow is a no. sawzall is lets try safely.

 

The older I get (50 something now) the less manual bs I want to deal with. Like my first chainsaw (husq) worked great the year and the second year I spent 30 minutes starting it. No thanks....even with all the fuel prep. I went with the Stihl that does that easy start kicker where you don't yank on it. You just gently pull on the cord and it winds up and starts it for you and it works every time within 2-3 pulls. Had it for 5 years now. So when you said sawzal, I was like yeah...been there done that. haha. I'm with you on this. I just wish there was a lightweight version to get to the high stuff up 20 ft. And, it tends to be a cleaner controlled cut imho.

 

I have a stihl with that pull start. Its so nice.

Right!! If you other fellas never tried it....you should. It's pretty awesome. The hardest part for me now is the planning on where to fell a tree!
I think at least long term use for most things we have to buy the best we can afford (not the most expensive) and after a lot of research for me it's been Stihl, Kubota, Honda small engines, and anything american made steel/canadian aluminum. Just my opinion.
