Hello! Just curious if anyone else has ran into this issue…noticed one of my rear license plate lights lenses looked burned..come to find out, something shorted out at some point and smoked the molex connectors and all. Dealer says it’s under warranty but will take 3+ months to get the plugs…trying to find an alternative. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

I'd just leave it and wait for warranty. Cover with electrical tape. Nothing wrong with having just 1 light. Keep estimate paper in glove box in case a copper stops you. If you mess with it dealer may void warranty.

Safety issue that prevents you from driving the truck legally should yield a loaner vehicle. Escalate the issue to dealer management and Toyota.

You would think that one of the Tech at the dealer could wire something up so the lights would still work till the new plug arrives.

Safety issue? Is the license plate afraid of the dark?

My memory is horrible, but I believe @caribe makaira found that one for us a while back while researching a harness? If anyone has a part number, I’m sure it will be him

If it wasn’t under warranty I would get one at a junk yard and splice in , new bulb and done

    Thanks all for the input!

Still have 14 months left on the warranty, dealer ordered parts and will fix it once it arrives. I’m not going to touch it since it’s still under warranty, seems like the most logical thing to do…almost traded it in for a new Tundra though, they offered $39k for it. ‘23 limited nightshade with 20k miles. I didn’t think that was too bad of a price, still below what I want for it though!
