    That's because the second gen didn't need it. The 3rd gen is always trying into shift to 6th gear at 20 mph.

    Buahahaha!

    All these questions...

    I usually engage it at slower speeds...but that's me.

    When's the best time to engage S-Drive? lol

    It is okay to leave it in S4 at a stoplight as the truck will upshift from gears 1 through 4 normally (it is limited to 4th gear). I would hesitate to shift to S4 above 65mph as the rpms might shoot up drastically. I have passed slower vehicles in S4 towing a trailer at 75+ which may not be safe but does not seem to hurt the truck until you crash.

    Yeah,

    I'm normally not in S-Drive on the highway/freeway...I keep it in "D" w/ECT engaged & DRCC set to one bar & LDA on. (Cruise Control allows me to functional test aftermarket grill)

    I've learned that keeping DRCC at 3 bars encourages drivers to get in front of me (because there is considerable distance) which then causes sudden braking.

    Sooooo, keeping the sensor at 1 bar keeps me closer to vehicle in front of me and prevents over-takers from cutting in front of me.

    DRCC = Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
    LDA = Lane Departure Alert

    This generation ECT PWR button is the "teenager" button for telling the transmission to buzz around in a lower gear for no good reason.

    The cutoff is 87 MPH. If you hit the button at 88 MPH you will go back to 1955…..

    ECT - Electronically Controlled Transmission. Isn’t A/T already “electronically controlled “??? Just sayin’…

    It doesn't hurt anything, i do it all the time.
    @75mph going from drive to S-mode the default 4th gear puts the RPMs around 3500.

    So try the opposite, cruise along at about 40 with ECT on and then turn it off. Feels like you just popped a parachute off the back, LOL

    ECT button should be pushed only when you want a more normal response like an actual truck instead of a squishy throttle lugging the engine in a higher gear for supposed “economy”.
