Hi All ! First timer: Having some trouble locating the overfill plug to loosen(with hex socket) in order to then drain the fluid. Really not sure location of bolt to remove to pump in the new fluid... If anyone with experience nice enough to Nerd out and post pics I'd appreciate it. Most DIY videos show the 6cyl. ! thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.
I just did a drain and fill on mine today. The 4 cylinder trucks like ours with the 4 speed automatic transmission don't have to go through all that stuff. There is a drain plug on the pan. You refill it through the dipstick tube using a funnel. I suggest you use a container that has markings for measurement of fluid removed so you have an idea of how much to put back in.
When I did mine I drove it around and warmed up the transmission first. This allows you to get out about an extra quart. It drained out just a little over 4 quarts so I put 4 quarts back in. Tomorrow I will drive until warm again and check the level.

Good to know ! So it is not necessary to put it in temp check mode, and cycle through the gears? After watching so many videos I was convinced had to refill fluid from under truck. Thanks for info !

Yea, the 2.7L trucks don't even have temp check mode.
Much easier to check/fill with the dipstick.

So I refilled transmission fluid and now notice truck is sluggish at low speeds (especially from a stop). I used Toyota T-IV transmission fluid as my manual stated for a 4 speed automatic transmission. Worried I put in wrong type of fluid as not sure what else would cause this. Anyone with a 2nd gen 4cyl know if I used correct fluid ? (insert head explosion emoji). Thank You

Thank You ! Good to know. Will warm up truck and check level/maybe add some fluid do not know what else could be causing the sluggish/slippage at low speed.

I think (hope) you just need to get the level right. It should be between 160 to 175 degrees normal operating temperature to check the level when hot. This is according to Haynes manual.
I use OBD Fusion app to watch the temperature. Last weekend I drove it for about 20 minutes and it didn't get to the right temperature. It was only 153 degrees when I checked it and it looked a little low. But I won't add more until I recheck it today after I get it up to temperature.
Mine might be a little low but it is driving normally. Maybe you overfilled it. Did you measure what came out and then add back the same amount?

I got 3.5 quarts out (Hayes manual says capacity is 2.9 quarts)... and put 4 quarts back in so you are probably right - I need to check the level today may be overfilled.
