^^ Agreed, the more you modify the more it depreciates the value. Part of the first gen culture is the Taco is more or less fine the way it's designed (except for the ball joints and the location of the clock! :-D) 21 years of age, rubber is beginning to crack/decompose and there are plenty of places to throw your money to keep it in good shape.

If you haven't, a full front end refresh is a good investment. All the rubber in the bushings will likely be compressed/cracking. Makes it hard to get a clean alignment. Did mine in 2023 and it still drives like new. What is your mileage? Timing belt at around 100K if there's no other issues.

 

The rubber is starting to break down and the hoses are starting to get harder to find. Just keep an eye on all them for leaks, and replace them at the first sign of a leak while you still can. Good luck!

Depending on the Maintenance history, keep it road worthy, and do the basic repairs when needed. replace all the fluids including Brake Fluid if they all need changing. Tune up depending on milage. Water pump and timing belt kit also depending on milage and history. But the #1 on your list is Upper and Lower Ball Joints, especially the lower ball joints. If they haven't been changed and your over 100k miles on the truck, then make this a priority. And only buy Genuine Toyota Ball Joints, and I'll add inner and outer tie rods to that. Beautiful Truck, and it will always hold more value in its original stock condition. Keep us updated.

 

Ditch those rims, for the ones that came with it.

 

Myself, I always liked those rims better than the clamshell that come on these trucks, but that's just my opinion.

 

I like the rim they are cool, but as said earlier about changing from stock. When you change things on the 01-04 for some reason to me you notice right away cause things seem off. IDK
