What is this mounting plate called? (Pic included)

I have a phone mount to install and I can't get part of it in the gap like they show on the install video so I'm considering just gorilla gluing it to this mount if I can't figure something out.

 

Are you using the mounting plate? if not why not just remove it?
What phone mount are you trying to install?

 

I got it from the dealer like that and didn't know anything about it until you posted the link. I'm trying to mount:

Someone put an after market mounting plate on. You can either take it off and use what you got or you can leave it on and get the mount that goes with it.

 

That DMM is much more secure than that clip on thing you bought. Return it if you can.

 

Unfortunately I can't return it. I wish I knew that before buying it . Now that I know what it is I can buy attachments for it though at least.

 

looking at the Amazon link, you could probably unscrew it from the adhesive base and screw it right into the dmm already on your truck.

 

Doesn't look exactly like my DMM.
Maybe an earlier or later iteration thereof.
Either way, toss what you bought and step away from the Gorilla Glue. You've got a proper mount already in place.

Too bad it looks like they're sold out of the phone mounts though. I'll see if I can get the one I already have to fit.

 

I haven't been on TG or RM site in years, but if what you're attempting to use won't work, you should be able to get anything you need through RAM Mounts.

I'm using RAM Mount 1" balls with various extensions and mag/ball/GoPro adapters. All bought off of Amazon.

The DMM, IIRC, uses 6mm bolts? I know they're not 1/4". Maybe they're 5mm.

Hmmm..
Just miced one of the bolts and it's .187
So surprisingly, it looks like it's 3/16...

 

Which is awfully close to 5mm...

 

And even closer to a #10 machine screw.

 

#10-32 is the correct answer.

 

Do you simply drill wherever there are holes on your DMM mount? Are there wires to worry about?

 

Another question, if the DMM mount takes 10-32 screws and the phone holder I have takes M5-80 is there any way of making it worth? Thanks in advance.
