Got a weird one for ya here.

A few months ago I installed the RXT leaf pack in my truck. Right away noticed that the parking brake cable had a lot of tension. Didn’t notice anything after a few hundred miles off road, so I kind of wrote it off.

that was until a few days ago while out in Death Valley, I kept hearing what sounded like metal on metal. Ironically, the noise ended up just being something in my back seat. But, it made me get under my truck and this is what I found.

The metal piece on the very bottom of the parking brake cable had been grinding against the Reservoir of my rear shock, and had by now made a pretty solid indent.

Since I noticed this while out on a trail while with a big group, I wanted to try to think of something quick. First, I tried rotating the reservoir outboard but it didn’t clear. Then I tried moving it inboard, and drew on the grinded spots with sharpie so I could see if it kept grinding. It did, so I snipped the bracket to give the cable more slack so I would grind as much (I know, it looks super Jerry rigged, because it is). That didn’t work either.

My question is if I just forget about it, will it eventually grind all the way through and start leaking fluid? If so, what’s the best way to go about fixing this? Also know this… I’m an idiot.

    thanks in advance ✌

Yes, that will eventually wear through if you don't do something about it.
Instead of clipping the bracket, you should space the bracket away from the leaf spring using either a spacer on the bolt or an additional small metal bracket to reposition it (you'll need a new bracket obviously).
    An example here:

An alternative would be to re-mount your reservoir onto the frame.
