Get your measles vaccine if you have not yet. I was immuno-compromised as a child and never got the same dot on my arm a lot of you have. Several years ago I got my shots and I'm glad I did given the recent outbreaks nationwide.

Morning everyone :hattip: got my lumberjack on yesterday. Cleaned up the widow maker and made safe, nice fire most of the day, then went out front and dropped an old and dying tree. Don’t know what it was exactly, but was told it was a “Sweet William” , hard wood anyway. Try and make it a great Monday o_O

    Good morning everybody.

It’s been a busy weekend. Saturday was the grandkids 2nd birthday, yesterday was a new training class for the pup. Yesterday afternoon the rains started down here and we’ve been dealing with storms and tornado warnings all night. Still under a tornado warning this morning but looks like the worst of it has passed.

    Have a great day!

Good morning. Rainy day here, today. There’s a mess that was left in the kitchen. I’m the only one home. Now who’s going to clean this mess up?

    Thank you :)
    Thank you :)

Well, now that we have a definitive path forward (for some things), it feels a little less stressful. I still have no prospects for a job. I still get interviews, but then never hear back from any of the HR people.

I think I mentioned a couple weeks ago that we filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in March. Our Hearing with the Bankruptcy Court is in late April, and then approximately 30 - 45 days after that, our case should be discharged. Our travel trailer was repossessed by that bank in early March. We had already decided to surrender it, our house, and my wife's Highlander as part of the bankruptcy, since we simply have no way to make any of those payments until I find a job. We do not have any idea when the car or the house will be taken back. Hopefully we will have a couple more months on the house, to give us time to pack up and find a public storage facility to put most of our stuff in until I find a job, and we can hopefully find a new place to rent/buy. We will most likely be moving in with my in-laws, about 20 miles away, until we can get another place of our own.

I have to admit, it is extremely difficult some days, mentally, trying to deal with all the setbacks I have had in the last 15 years. I'm (now) 58 years old, have been in the IT industry since 1992, have been unemployed 4 times since 2010, have gone through every dollar of every 401(k) plan I ever had just to pay the bills and keep going during these year+ long periods of unemployment, and having nothing left for "retirement" at some now far distant point in the future. Between a bleak financial outlook, and all the physical medical issues I have, it is just not easy.

And that is why I am so grateful for all of you here, and your continued support. Knowing that someone other than me, my wife, her parents, and my sister are thinking about us, gives me tremendous emotional help.

And with that...... I do hope everyone has a great Monday.

Here’s some advice a doctor gave me recently: “Just remember what that great philosopher, Dory said: Just keep swimming.”

Wise advice, and some days, about all I can manage. Laying in bed at night is the worst time for me. I have nothing else to distract my attention, so I start going over all the possible scenarios. And the engineer in me always goes right to "Expect the best case, but design for the worst case scenario imaginable", that I learned from one of my professors in college. So I lay there, stressing about every little detail. But, now that we have filed for bankruptcy protection, I at least don't have to worry about "what are we gonna do if Creditor X sues us / repossesses <whatever>.....". Now my biggest worry is eventually finding a job.

I had someone tell me once, “ when going through hell , just keep going “ , it’s helped me over the years. Trust me, I’ve had my ass in a jam more than I would like to admit.
