Stock as can be. 2nd owner, mild rust from Illinois owner. Frame is solid and plan on just getting a toolbox for the bed, black steel wheels and some 31x10.5R15
Have a leaky transmission pan gasket to get done here soon. And I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the filter? It has 185k on the truck, unknown if the pan has ever been dropped. I've read they are just wire mesh filters, so no need to replace? And I've also read elsewhere that the filter should be changed every 60k on these trucks.

    Anyone have any info?

My tranny is different 100%but when I changed pan gasket, this ‘screen filter’ was much less than a filter more of a wire mesh with 2-3mm squares ‘filtering’….meh

    as far as fluid change
    There is a crap ton
Check out some vids….when I was researching, one guy flushed close to 4gallons out. I couldn’t afford $200+ of T fluid.
Then other seasoned members told me….especially if original fluid, to change a portion at one time

this is a great internet debate….ALL manufacturers

The above is what I did
But research what is best for you

What does the current atf look like? Nothing wrong with replacing that screen/filter but I would definitely clean the inside of the pan and magnets. Use Toyota fipg when reinstalling the pan. Refill with new fluid and do 2-3 drain and refills over about 6 months.

The fluid itself is fine. I've done a drain and fill a few times down in the last year. I'm sure all the older fluid is now evacuated. Fluid is bright red. Pictured is the old stuff I initially dropped out of it. I've since done 2 additional drain and fills and fluid is now clear vibrant red.

I was more curious of the screen filter. I just figured I'd go ahead and swap it (or clean it if I could) while I had the pan off.
