Hey guys! Bare with me, this is my first post. But I had a quick question. I recently took my Taco to 88Rotors to get a new lift and install new tires+wheels. I ended up going with an Eibach stage 2R lift with Camburg UCAs and an AAL in the rear. I had ordered some Falken wildpeaks (285/70/17) and some black rhino wheels online so I brought them in so that 88 could install them for me.

after taking my truck home from lifting it, I noticed that I was rubbing a bit when reversing for example into parking stalls or into my driveway or also when doing U-turns.

call me off guard cause I would’ve thought that 88 rotors would’ve Took care of my Truck and would’ve eliminated any rubbing problems especially since I’ve payed a pretty penny.

My question is do you guys think I’ll need a cap mount chop or will some trimming eliminate the rubbing problem?

I called 88 rotors and explained to them and they said to bring in my truck to check it out. I really hope they don’t charge me again for a CMC even though it should’ve been done in the first place when I paid for the whole thing.

That's a lot of work to have done with them, at I'm sure well over 2k total. That second picture is WILD. Am I the only person that see's this and thinks it is absolutely unacceptable. I would be Furious, especially with the low quality work being done here. They seriously couldn't even take it for a test drive? There is NO WAY the "technician" pulling out of the shop/into the shop, putting around the shop and then finally getting out on the roadway hopefully highway didn't notice this. They really must not have cared at all. No shop manager, no service manger noticed this as well? Sorry to invest all this money with a shitty shop OP. It's hard to find a place that does quality work. It drives me Crazy, I know I'm going to be paying for insert service, at least have the dignity and respect to conduct quality/safe work. If it were me, I would be parked in front of this 88 chop shop 15 minutes before they open for the day tomorrow, wearing an extremely displeased scowl look on my face. I would be blunt and confident when talking with them, not being an asshole/aggressive. One look at these pics and anyone can tell they surely didn't care, slapped it together and did not give one fuck about safety nor doing a quality job. Let us know how this turns out, hopefully they will fix what they were supposed to Never have done in the first place.

Some adjustable uca's would help some assuming the wheels are zero offset, but from the pics I'd say some cutting is needed either way.

What did the alignment sheet say?

I mean, not to be a dick but did you tell them you wanted a cmc? What exactly did you and the shop agree on for the work being done?

Honestly, I’m sure the work that was done was done just fine. Tires, wheels, and lift kit install is pretty standard and seems like they took care of all of that as it should be. CMC is a pretty standard job on these trucks and usually necessary with 285’s. CMC is also a separate service from lift, tires, and wheels. I think where 88 rotors went wrong is that they didn’t tell you beforehand that a CMC would most likely be necessary and add that into their quote or at least let you know there was a possibility it would rub. 88 rotors works on a lot of trucks and this isn’t their first time seeing a truck with a lift like that and 285’s. So I understand rolling out of there and being surprised by the rubbing. Most likely you will need a CMC and they aren’t gonna do it for free. If you’re upset with them and end up not wanting to do a CMC with them, I can do the CMC for you. I’m in Lomita 90717

That’s crazy. I had work done by 88 but had zero issues leaving and till this day. Most folks coming in the day I was there for work on my truck were there for a lift and wanting 35s were advised that they needed to cut somewhere or they would rub. I’m shocked they didn’t tell you or advise for you to do a CMC or CMR. They definitely won’t do the CMC for free. I would advise you look around in this sub in the case they charge for a way cheaper option. Folks on here that make sliders or other custom work make great quality stuff, and do great work. Look around!

lol no worries, but no I guess I never told them specifically that I wanted a CMC only bc I assumed that it was already necessary.
For me it just felt kind of obvious that I would need it, especially since I’m rubbing this much. And I saw them take my truck on multiple test rides after installing my whole lift and yet they still gave it back to me. For me. It seems like a slap in the face because how am I getting all this work done to try to upgrade my off-road in capabilities and yet they leave the rubbing aspect

Yeah definitely is a bit frustrating. And I don’t seem to come off as like a Karen, but I’m a bit disappointed with 88 rotors, especially since they’re pretty big off Roading business. The whole reason why I decided to go with them in the first place was because I know they’re credible so I didn’t mind spending more money because I trusted their quality of work. it sucks because I know when I go back and ask them about this issue, they’re definitely gonna wanna charge me more to have it taken care of

yeah definitely would’ve been helpful If they’ve would’ve informed me that the CMC won’t be included in the services and that it will probably be necessary. But regardless,
    how much would you charge?
    Help a brother out lol

yeah I really wanted to like 88 rotors, but I’m pretty disappointed, knowing that they didn’t mention anything about me needing a CMC even though I already knew that it most likely was needed. I’ll look around this forum and hopefully I can find someone local to do the job for a bit cheaper than what 88 would charge me

I’m really sorry you had that experience. Just as a heads up, they DO drive the vehicles from the front to the end of the parking lot in the back. They must have felt that rub regardless, especially how these pictures look. Hoping that CMC service offered above takes care of your rub!

I feel you. The shop dropped the ball by giving you the truck back without raising concern or even showing you the rubbing. As stated, it's pretty typical to rub on 285's but also possible to avoid it with a good alignment.

Do the CMC yourself if you can. Knocked mine out in about an hour. Good luck with your truck.

I believe @Shmellmopwho is the closest one to get you set up with a BMC. I’m in upland area. He is in lomita. Good stuff :fistbump:
