    Good morning everybody :hattip:

It rained all day yesterday, that and the storms Saturday and Sunday have caused a lot of localized flooding down here. Several small bridges are underwater and a couple of secondary roads have washouts in the north part of my county and the one to our west. We woke up to a brisk 44* this morning too. It’s too wet to rake leaves so I see a town run and goofing off in my plans for today.

    Have a great Tuesday!

    Morning all

Over regulation makes it expensive which leads to illegal growers and sellers. California is going through that. Oregon didn't regulate and has no issues. Tried it, it has changed from the 70s, I don't like it. And adulting has taken the fun out of it.

Same here. A few years ago there was a farm that was growing it. Field was right on the frontage road. No fence or anything. I do think it was just “hemp” and not meant for other purposes. I do wonder how much of a headache it was for the farmer and how many times he caught people sneaking in/out of the field. I happened to be driving by on my way to town the night they were mowing it all down. OMG the stench of it. It was nauseating. They only did it the one time and are back to growing corn so I guess maybe not worth the extra hassle.

I had never considered a Contract position in my life, as I always wanted stability and long term security. Job security, at least in the IT/Technology sector, vanished in the early 2000's, and will never return. Employers no longer look at the long term picture, of nurturing their existing people and helping them grow and mature with the company, expecting they will continue to contribute and keep the company strong and growing for years/decades to come. Now they only focus on "the current Quarter" or "the current year" in terms of profitability and what the idiots on Wall Street will think. So they get rid of their senior (eg: higher paid) people, to save a few dollars, with the fantasy that a much younger and far less experienced person can step into the same role and contribute at the same level as the senior person they just shit canned. But hey, they saved $50K a year!

This go around, I have been looking at a ton of Contract roles, some are fixed term, some are Contract-to-Hire. But same results. I get an interview.... then never hear back.

I have begun considering entirely different fields, nothing to do with IT/technology (directly). A big problem is, that with my physical disabilities and limitations, I need something that does not require standing or walking for more than a very few minutes at a time, and essentially nothing physical. I've thought of truck driving. but I know in many cases, the driver also is required to load/unload whatever cargo they are hauling. Not to mention climbing into/out of a truck may be a big challenge for me. I have thought of teaching. But in addition to the standing, I would need to return to college for at least a year to get the necessary credential, and I need to start working NOW, not to mention I have no way to pay for any training/education right now. I grew up with my dad teaching me the Plumbing trade, which, if it weren't for my disabilities, I could get back into pretty easily. I've thought about a switch to welding, I have actually been seeing a ton of welding school Reels come across my Facebook feed recently, and have always been interested in learning to weld, but same physical / mobility issues as with Plumbing, or any trade.

I still find IT jobs to apply to, almost every day. I'll keep at it for now. Don't really have much choice.

I've been searching a ton of job posting sites, probably 20 or more I regularly check. But I have found, even years ago, a lot of them all use the same jobs database. Indeed, Dice, Monster, Glassdoor, LHH... they all use the same database, so you don't gain anything by spending time at all of them. And another thing with these sites, specifically, that I learned years ago, many of the jobs they list as "new", were actually listed by the actual employer weeks or months ago, and are often no longer even available.

If you have any specific suggestions, I would be most appreciative. I will definitely check them out. Thank you.

It was a $100 an ounce or more back in the 70’s it’s about the same now in Michigan, but way better and stronger, and you can get M+M’s. Or so I’ve been told. It’s kinda a viscous circle, eat cookies that give you the munchies

Oregon is about $6 for a blunt that will last a long time...for me.

Or I could buy a beer or two and still function

I buy gummies (can't smoke w/COPD) here at recreational strengths for my arthritis. I usually get the anti-inflammatory and nighttime/sleep blends.
