It's a lot better than when we moved there, still needs more gravel :spending:

It had a LOT of big rocks in the ditch when we moved in, worked on it and had some asphalt millings put on it. I kept adjusting the big rocks after each rain and seeing what was happening. A few months ago I removed all the big rocks cause they were causing more problems than helping.

This is when we moved in, the ditch was higher than the driveway.

    upload_2025-4-8_8-3-56.jpg

Dug it out, had some millings put on it. It helped for sure.

Yeah, nevermind that thought! But, maybe just get that section done in asphalt or something. I dunno, just thinking out loud because I honestly don't want to think about work right now (too much bs).

So how is this SpeeCo working out?

Is this the one you have?

I'm thinking of ordering the MechMaxx stump grinder (again) that I had ordered last August and canceled after 5 weeks because they had not delivered. When I ordered it was on sale for $1899 (regular $2399). It's on sale for $1399 currently. But since I don't have a Quick Hitch or any other attachments for the rear of my L3901, I'm thinking I should get a QH at the same time as the grinder. This because they say you may have to cut the included PTO Shaft to make it fit your tractor. I understand that having a QH (or not) affects the measurement for the length of PTO Shaft required. This is all out of my league so I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do.

I just filled in a 9" deep gouge in my driveway this afternoon from the storms we had on Saturday. It's a never ending process. While it could be fixed if I had enough money, I don't so it isn't.:anonymous:

I'm experimenting by grinding down the bearing retaining lip and popping out the old bearing. Takes about 4 minutes to do this.

    My question:

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to rebuild the retaining lip.

This will save a lot of money and time.

I'm good with a MIG welder, so something that can be welded to the pulley then easily beat down onto the bearing race to clamp it secure is what I need.

I hope I've been able to describe what I'm looking for.

how about three sheet metal screws with heads that retain the outer bearing race.

I need to buy new tires for the garden tractor. As I look on the south american river company website there are dozens of choices. Does anyone have any experience of a brand name to avoid? The rears are 23 x 10.5-12, I want 6 ply and the fronts are 16 x 6.5-8. I'm debating to get front tires with rims already mounted.

I don't have any experience with the PTO as of yet. But I can see it moves everything back about 4 inches+/- . But instead of going to the store you posted go here, they delivered quickly and it's cheaper with free shipping with your first order UPS. Ordered on Sunday and got it on Thursday.
https://agzaga.com/products/speeco-3-point-quick-hitch-cat-1-economy-kabota-orange. You can reach out to them and they will respond.
I don't know anything about the stump grinder. I've been eyeing the DR chippers, since they come with a 2 year warranty and you can add 3 more years.

Where the arrow is, there is a pipe under the paved part of the neighbors driveway, it is under sized and gets stopped up easily causing the washing issue we had the other day because we got a lot of rain in a short period.

I would love to crown it and put a ditch on the other side. The trees belong to someone we've never met.

The man who owns the pipe side is real nice and helped me move the rocks when I dug them out. He goes up the paved part and down the gravel and welcomes the help on my part with the tractor since he doesn't have one.

There is a ditch I cut you can't see above all of this, it also got stopped up with leaves and caused a lot of water to run farther down than it should. 98% of the time it doesn't wash but when we get heavy rainfall in short periods, that's when we have issues.

These things are constant maintenance, but as long as it's not a safety issue or going to cause more damage I might not bother. Unless you can reshape the land and have funds to do all that it just isn't a priority imho. There is only so much you can do with mother nature.

I'm so focused on quality of life right now that I'd rather put money into a new fishing pole than a truck load of gravel. And the fishing rods and reels are $$$! lol

Odd question. How much slack should there be on a JD S220 mower deck belt? This thing screams when the blades are engaged. Picture is slack when disengaged. Has about an inch of belt movement when engaged before the tensioner moves.
Unfortunately, JD made the decision to remove adjustability by welding the previously bolted on and adjustable cable bracket.

I would think 1/2" is more than enough, may have to get a shorter belt.

You'd think the manual would say, it doesn't. The previously adjustable cable mount on the deck is welded on. So, I guess they decided it doesn't need to be end user adjustable.

Depends on the length of the belt, but 1/64" per inch of belt length is what I found on the interweb.
