I think you missed his sarcasm. But, that is just my interpretation.

Staying on topic, if anyone's had a first gen (back when 4cyl was cool) you encountered the Taco lean. Lift kits were literally built 1/2" higher on driver. Could it be that Toyota just compensated by shifting the beds 1/2" to the right? Maybe this has been happening the whole time.

But we’re talking about left-right centering. I’ve got another thread on the lean going right now.

Picked up a 2025 Tacoma hybrid off-road this week and off as usual but they appeared (strolling the lot) slightly better
than last year but still off to the left
15 minutes later - to do with the factory should haveIMG_1885.jpg IMG_1886.jpg IMG_1887.jpg done

Did you end up having to do any drilling / reaming to get is straightened out, or is it as simple as just loosening the bolts to realign the bed?

Now July 2024 - April 2025 I've noticed a whole lot of pickups from a few makers have this problem. I mentioned it for my firs service appointment but didn't have time to give up the vehicle. I'll list it again when I have the brake recall addressed.

Anecdotally - I purchased a 2024 TRD OR last week and the bed is perfectly aligned, as is the tailgate.

No reaming but after loosening all 6 bolts the most it would move was less then a 1/4” and not sure why. I didn’t
investigate why as this was all I needed. Looking down in the bolt hole it is held up on posts about 2 3/4” roughly because of the bed grid structure strengthening

The bed is rather light weight when pulled up in a corner FWIW

I just ran across this thread looks like Toyota could have resolved this issue by now considering nearly every 3rd gen came with the bed and rear bumper out of alignment. Eight years of 3rd gen with this problem and it’s continuing right on to the 4th gen.
