I created a direct mount for the 1st gen Tacoma and Wolfbox G930. I didn't want to spend the $150 for a fancy aluminum stick from SQR, but was also super annoyed by the crappy rubber band attachments and interference with the sun shades. So I 3D printed one. The Mount allows for both sun shades to come down with no interference.

    Image (9).jpg Image (11).jpg Image (10).jpg

I have 2 prototypes I am happy to ship for $5 and the cost of shipping.

The mount was 3D printed on a SLA printer and uses a #8-32 heilacoil to mount to the truck (I did not have metric heilacoils to use the OEM screw).

You can make your own from the files below. I cannot guarantee this will work on a FDM printer because I designed it for SLA.

Not sure if I wanna sell it but maybe if you ask nicely Ill make some more.

    Dude! awesome!
Ill hopefully print one up and test it on my truck. I also hate the way the sun shades cant go down because the wolfbox is strapped to the mirror.

    Can you explain this
"uses a #8-32 heilacoil to mount to the truck"

Is the helicoil in the overhead light box junction?

    What size is your wolfbox?

The heilacoil goes into the 3D printed part so the threads are stronger. A heatsert would be better but the type of plastic that i printed in does not take them.

Great question. It is likely because i think the wolfbox direct mounts are all the same. Happy to give you some measurements or send the last prototype i have.

Edit: No it will not fit the larger 12" wolfboxes. The mount hole spacing is different.

Nice! you will have to let me know how it goes being from a FDM printer. Looks clean enough. I wonder if being in a hot car will mess with it though.

    Printing on a Bambu lab.
Some of the dimensions probably need to be tweaked to make it fit better. The length seemed about 1/8th off and the posts were just a little too thick to fit into the wolfbox mount.

I made it work tho, but I might tweak the STL when I have some time and print the mount again.

Interesting that it shrunk. I can put the SolidWorks file in thingverse that will be easier to modify

    Yeah that could help.
The aux cord is also hitting the rear_screen_mount on mine which it doesnt look like it interferes on yours. I would just have to offset the cup on the wolfbox mount maybe 3/8ths to get a little more swivel space for the mirror.

I think I figured the aux cord out. Since the feet didn't fit properly I spaced them back out of the wolfbox mount holes and used long #2 screws. If my mount was able to sit into the wolfbox deeper then it would be pushed forward more where the rear_screen_mount is thinner.

If you get it dialed in for a FDM printer you should post your part on thingverse!

@Rucas I just realized you have a 12" wolfbox. This explains the fitment issues. Between the G930 and G900/G850/G840 there is a increase in width and height between the mounting spots. Also the larger ones wont clear the sun visors.

Centered on my bumper, not a stock bumper though. I have the G840S with the WDR camera which is supposed to be better at dealing with headlights, and it is an improvement over a Rexing M2 I had in my old car. Headlights are still not great though, and can pretty much blind the camera. That’s really the one flaw, but every other feature far outweighs that one con for me. At night with no headlights, or lights far behind you can actually see a lot better than a regular mirror. Without it I wouldn’t really be able to see anything behind me between the shell and spare tire anyway.
I thought about mounting the camera by the 3rd brake light on my shell to get it above headlights, I bet that would solve it, but I prefer the straight-back view instead of the top-down that would’ve had.

Ahh yeah I see. I knew it wouldnt clear the visors, but after installed its at least pushed back further and lets me put the visor down more. Before I could only angle the visor at a 50 or 60 degree, now its closer to 90. I just have to edit the STL a little for those fitment discrepancies.
