Hey guys, recently brought my 22’ tacoma in for the input shaft leaking on my transfer case. Has 41k miles still under warranty. The leak caused gear oil to leak where it meets the transmission. Just picked it up today and theres still a decent amount of oil where the tranfercase meets the transmission. I wiped it off and went for a drive and there still seems to be some coming out, slowly of course. But what i noticed now is there is a bit of a red tint to it. Do you think i should wait a little bit and maybe there was some residual left over, or should I bring it back to the dealer?

I would take it back if it appears to still be leaking. Keep in mind the Toyota power train warranty is 60 months/60K miles unless you have an extended warranty.

If it’s red then they probably now caused a new leak on the transmission side of things. ATF is often reddish.

    Sounds like it's still leaking.

Red is either ATF or non-Toyota transfer case fluid. Red Line MT-LV that is a popular aftermarket fluid for 3rd gen transfer cases is red, for example. It's also possible the technician mixed it up with the Tundra and put ATF in the transfer case... which would explain the rapid leak.
