I am having trouble with the head lights on my 95 Tacoma. When the switch is turned on, lights only work in high beam but the dash indicator does not light up. I read on other threads that this issue can be caused by burnt-out lowbeam bulbs, but mine work if I cross 2 terminals on the switch. I took the switch apart to see if anything was corroded or damaged, and it looks like new condition. Also the wiring should be fine since low beams work with the 2 terminals crossed. However, the switch is rather complicated and I can't see any combination of terminals that would make a circuit between the two terminals I crossed with a wire.
The problem started after I had the covers off the steering column for another repair, so I assumed I had just bumped some loose wiring, but that doesn't seem to be the problem now that I have it apart. The issue started with the low beams flickering on and off and finally not working at all.
I don't want to buy a new switch until I am sure that the switch is the problem.
Any ideas of what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

Flickering on and off? I'm assuming this was as your truck was hitting bumps? Sounds like a loose or damaged connection/wire from the switch. You should still check the bulbs, I have had a set of h4/9003 type fail (both, either simultaneously or within a very short time of each other) where the filament broke at one end. With the vehicle still, they worked, but as the front end bounced up and down while driving one or both would lose continuity through the filament end and blink off.

Inspect the wiring from wherever you're seeing it "loose," for damage, and insoect where that bundle goes through the firewall, if you pulled things loose you may have pulled some insulation off near the grommets, leading to intermittent shorts.

Actually, the flickering was random, even when I was parked. I'll check around for shorts, though. Thanks.
