I'm having trouble with the headlights on my truck. High beams work, but no indicator light on the dash. No low beams. The problem started after I had the cover off the the steering column for another repair. The low beams flickered on and off and finally quit working. I assumed it was a wiring problem.
I have the switch apart now, and by crossing 2 terminals on the switch, I can turn the low beams on, so I know the bulbs are fine and the wiring works. the swicth looks fine inside, no corrosion or visible damage. Also, the switch is rather complicated, but I cant see any positon that cannest the 2 terminals I crossed to turns the low beams on.
I'm stumped on what to look into next. I don't want to replace the switch untill I am sure that is the problem, but I don't know what else could be making trouble.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I'd replace the switch, but that's just me.

Maybe I just need to try replacing the switch, but considering that the original switch looks fine and that a new switch is $140, I'm not sure if I want to do a switch now. Maybe I can find one at a junkyard.

Depending on if you have a US or Canadian spec truck the headlights operate very differently, assuming you have a US spec truck Pin 12 (Red/Yellow) is the low beam wire (If it's Canadian spec Pin 12 will be Violet). Grounding that wire with the headlights on should turn the low beams on.

Thanks for that. I was grounding pin 12 (red/yellow) to turn on the low beams. I take it you're implying my switch is bad then?

Need to verify the ground is good on Pins 9 & 11 (White/Black) but if that's good yea it would seem your switch is bad.

The high beam indicator I believe is a separate issue likely just a burnt out indicator bulb.
