New rear calipers & pads.



The rear brakes worked fine and the pads & rotors had been replaced recently, however...

The boots were compromised, it was just a matter of time before one froze up - at a bad time.



I haven't dared try the hand brake either, now I'll use it every day - they never rust up if you use them.

 

This might have something to do with having to add air occasionally.

Fortunately ( ) tire repairs are part & parcel for the rural dweller.



Doing a good balance job on these wide aluminum wheels takes time on my ancient balancer. It was built when wheels were both steel & narrow.



Past tech, it works, just fussy & time consuming.

One of the guys at my new job does 3d printing.. now I'll finally have a model of my chevelle. Once all the parts get made

 

Homesite was too wet to get much done so we started the demo of the old homeplace. We spent most of the time cutting brush so we could get to the porch.

I missed that, the glasses I wear there are good enough for general purpose, I have to switch to my hotter ones to see detail stuff.

I couldn't get a bite with the regular torx driver and figured it was too worn to grip so I pulled it out with pliers.

 

That is (will be) cool!

 

It was a luxurious drive home with working cruise control.

 

When it went it really just fell away from the house.

 

those die holders are interesting, i don't recall ever seeing any 3-jaw versions like that. most just use a single set screw to hold the die in the handles.

 

i built a hitch-mount winch setup today, it was a semi-quick project, and far faster than getting into one of my real projects. nice easy start to the good weather seasons for outdoor projects.

 

It looks like a tad late to be applying the warning tips now.

 

As long as it serves the purpose, it’s valuable to me

Morning all

I have felt like crap all week, I knew waking up Tuesday the usual Spring Spring funk was setting in. Miserable week, but I was pretty much normal yesterday. Gonna be a busy next 3 days off. Gotta mow and wash the truck really good today since it goes in Monday for an oil change. Gotta drop the spare tire and clean the frame in that area and also scrub down the spare tire this time. Yearly underbody cleaning I like to do. Can't bring in a dirty truck. Bought a new mini pressure washer gun so I get to see how that works under there. Tuesday I got a dental appointment. Joy...

Finally a week without any snow guessed. Also, some sun Looks like spring has sprung

 

Factory the spare tire the valve stem is pointed up, so first thing I do is turn it around so I can adjust pressure without dropping the spare. Unfortunately this means more salt, mud, cow crap (literally ) collects inside of it. Scrubbing it yearly helps slow down the rust. Also makes it easier to clean the rear section of the frame and components. Unfortunately I have to drive this thing in the winter so a yearly major scrub down is required if you want to keep the vehicle around. Don't know why I'm bothering; I plan on looking at some trucks when I'm at the dealer
