Yesterday was supposed to be a scenic background shot for my Taco, unfortunately no super bloom this year in the Carrizo Plain National Monument.

I was on my way back from LA, 400 mile day and did a 50 mile dirt side trip in the Monument hoping for this..

    But...I got this instead

    IMG_7561.jpg

I did get this funny moment after filling up with gas near the top of the Grapevine then dropping down to the Central Valley at around 80 mph.....of course the MPG was short lived but I did average 19 mpg for the day....Not bad for 70-75 mph for the day other than the dirt run

Just bought this beast: 2023 Tacoma Access Cab 4WD V6. It has the SX package, which is a "blackout" package. Toyota Tacoma SR5 2023 3.jpg

Those look kinda cool even if they defeat the purpose of getting out into the wild.
Kinda close together too - and no shade.

Where are they - looks to be New Mexicoish or Arizonish or Utahish... good dark-sky country.

8k' up in Colorado. Trust me we all giggle about who's going to rent these when they overlook classy hotels. They are not completed yet but I'm almost positive they don't have any type of shade and that window is right where your bed is meaning anybody walking by can see everything you're doing at all times. They were originally going to do airstreams but realized they would cost too much so now he has four airstreams sitting there he's trying to sell for $60,000 each. There's going to be 53 of these domes I just don't see anybody renting them

Wow, that's bizarre. I mean if they were spaced out a lot more, if there were trees, or a lake with these surrounding it, I could see it.
But stacked up next to each other like that with no trees around - bizarre.

I think you'd be surprised by the amount of wealthy folk who want to masquerade as outdoors people. They have the money for a luxury hotel but this gives the allusion of being a normal person and reconnecting with nature without having to deal with icky dirt and gross bugs.

Glamping. At least north Scandanavian "glamping" gives a view of the Northern Lights and often are not "domes".

Yeah, I mean, I'm with you guys. Getting crammed into domes ten feet from other "campers" is not the type of reconnection with nature I'd seek. It's all a facade

Brought the drone up too. Unfortunately I don't think the 360 viewer will work on this page and will look silly

That's a horrible idea. What time?
We did one of these outside Big Bend for four nights. Only four of them where we stayed, and all a couple hundred yards apart. Completely off grid with solar power and trucked in water. From the window all you could see was nature.

Nice. Looks like a really cool trip. Good eye for the scenery man. That one pic with the water is such a cool contrast given the environment. You can see how all the life clings to that area. I need to get out that way.
