I have that JO-HAN Sox and Martin Barracuda. You wouldn't know it though. Back then I didn't save the box or used the decals when it was built. Had other plans for it. Still in nice condition. We used to have a hobby store in Ravenna I would go to to buy Jo-Han kits at called the Jack and Jill Shop. It closed 30+ years ago. When Jack died 5 or 6 years ago I went to the estate sale they had for him and drooled over all the built Jo-Han models he had in the basement. You wanna guess his wife's name? He had just about every release they made and wanted $50 a piece. I have around 20 Jo-Hans. Unopened boxes are bringing in $100+. I heard the original molds were destroyed. I wish they could bring back some of those models.

Yep, that trip was way more jazzed than any modern car hunt. Because those were on limited occasion and relied on a new inventory schedule that we didn’t know about, unless the owner was nice enough to show you his catalog or tell you about the convention visits. One f my hobby shops is still around, but expressly specializes is soldiers and painting of such. Sure they have parts of other hobbies (mostly leaning into army things for dioramas) or kids diorama projects. My favorite indulged my early rocket obsession, balsa projects, cox aeroplanes, and yes car model hobby. I discovered diecast from my more affluent friend who had Corgi to my Crane and Dump Truck. I discovered cars at Woolco/woolworth and other places, so it was on. Then came the I can build them too. Every cool car I couldn’t own (money or practicality), I could still posess and make my own. Experiencing Drag races, car shows (world of wheels, cruise ins, etc) only made things more vibrant. I’ve heard most of my collection is over $100 a pop, even the ridiculous Peelers diecast. Go figure.

I should have included that my model haven’t had a massive collection of Guisval (Spain, 1:43) which made models from the early years of automobiles to modern. I eventually learned of Pilen, Nacoral, Grip, Zechin, Joal, and all the other manufacturers out there. Model kits in 1:24, 1:18, 1:16, etc… it can be overwhelming.

I saw that car he showed in there (upper, right of centerline)… so I’m guessing better than $125…

Prices were all over depending on which one you asked about. A lot of people selling matchboxes in the original box.

I have this car. Not mint in the box like that one was. Bought it years ago. Want to say $10.

I’m not up on matchbox prices in the box. Seen them from $10 to $500

Sadly, there are fake boxes now. People print up all kinds of stuff. Even reproducing cards, etc. Scammers suck.

Fake? Are you saying Hit Wheels didn’t come in a box like matchbox?

1/24 scale m2 57 Chevy? Isn’t that 56 trim? I didn’t really want this, but it was a chase so I figured it would be good for a trade or maybe make a couple bucks off of it. 1of 750 IMG_4984.jpg IMG_4983.jpg

What a blast from the past...I have the 2.2 Dodge Rampage. I distinctly remember choosing it when I was a kid and my parents bought it for me. The significance? This was part of a hot wheels series with real rubber tires. The date is 1983. This is one of my childhood toys and the reason why it is in such great condition is I was around the age where I was outgrowing them and not ramming them into each other :)

I know it's probably too late, but probably should have picked that one up for the rubber tires.

I myself have some Jo-han kits. A couple high dollar ones at that. 70 AMC Rebel Machine.. 1 sealed and 1 open. The sealed one could bring 250-300 easy. I also have a sealed AMC Marlin. I have a couple AMX/Javelin/Scramber Rambler kits too.
