what wheels u mounting to stock toyota ?? NO way, they have crazy positive offset (+25) which puts tires very close to yor U.C.A's >>>285s are a full inch wider than 265s. If u stick with 16" yor pretty much screwed as far as choices

I was going to mount the 285/70’s to the FN outlander wheels, because i read that they are a -6mm offset ?

I feel yor pain , I just went thru all this crap over the last couple weeks....had to pony up 2K for tires & 17" wheels . Dustin @ FN wheels is the place to go for the wheels...they are only 22lbs each (compared to 35lbs each) for most other aftermarket brands & yet very affordable. I picked Kenda Klever AT2 tires in P285/70R17 they only weigh 44 lbs each & are amazingly priced at 185.99 each (100.00 less per tire than most) so my new set up will be only 3 lbs heavier per tire than my little stock 265/16s.

-6 is good also but prolly still looking at doing the B.M.C. and installing aftermarket U.C.A.s which give ya alittle more clearance up top from the tire & more adjustability at alignment time (remember the 285 is 1 inch wider)

as a reference the pic in my sig is how it looks now with 3" lift & 265/70R16 (and the 285 is 2' taller approx) but the width seemed the important measurement at the time. Crossing my fingers that the 285s go on without surgery, will post pics when mounted up

Sorry for the delay, but I was able to get ahold of some pictures that meet the requirements of your request. This is a 2012-15 Tacoma with 17x8.5" Overlander Spec B wheels and 265/70R17 tires.

I prefer the looks of an all terrain tire myself, but this particular customer went with a very conservative Michelin Defender LTX tire in 265/70R17 (the tire met his particular needs). This should still give you a good idea of fitment / stance.

You can fit a 285/70R17 tire with a 2/1 lift. You'll need to remove the front air dam (aka chin spoiler), remove the front mud flaps, and adjust or trim some plastics in the front wheel wells on a 2016-2023 Tacoma.

If your alignment specs are good you shouldn't need to do a body mount chop unless the tire diameter is greater than 32.8" and/or the tires are run wider than usual (i.e. Falken Wildpeaks). Every truck and every tire is a little different though, so it's possible that you might have rubbing where someone else with a similar setup didn't have rubbing. If the tire diameter is greater than 32.8", and/or if the tire is particularly wide and aggressive, or if your alignment can't be corrected after lifting the truck, you might rub the body mount. Some of this can be overcome with aftermarket upper control arms that are adjustable or which were designed to provide more positive caster.

285/70R17 tires won't come any where close to rubbing on the stock upper control arms with the Overlander wheels, because the 17x8.5" -6mm offset Overlander wheels have 4.5" backspacing which provides a considerable amount of upper control arm clearance. OEM wheels have significantly higher backspacing, which can create an issue with 285's.

    You're welcome. Happy to help!

We can bring them back if there's enough demand. Let's try to get a Tacoma World group buy going, and I'll give you guys a really good price if you all can wait for us to produce them.

Are the spec A still being sold? Would be interested in a set in black at some point.

    Here's the result....P285/70R17 3" lift front 3" rear.
rubbed on the plastic inner fender when backing up at 2* caster.....took it back & had them run more caster....he ended up at 3.3* caster & no more rub, the difference between 2 & 3.3 degree caster was 3/8" he said, so even tho no rub gonna cut back the plastic but leave body mount for now.

Just a couple of shots of FN Overlander Spec B gunmetal grey. Great looking wheels. Going to be wheeling in NC next week and will see how they do aired down.
