I definitely suggest not buying these for the backlight feature during the day. It's eh...I didn't buy them for that though. I bought them for cost savings and from @crashnburn80 's suggestion on best bang for your buck to match the Halogens color. I ordered the plug n play harness but it didn't work for my 2023 SR5 DCLB. I think it's for LED headlights? Here is a pic of the backlights on with the DRL's. I think Diode needs to be more specific on the site about which models the harness works for.

Found that I had to tap the middle wire on the driver and passenger DRL's to match the backlight feature with the DRL's. It was the pink wire on the drivers side, and dark blue on the passenger side. Google searched how to use a wire tester to find the hot wire. Science! So if you have a SR5 like me, hopefully this helps you.

Just so happens it snowed like hell in April and I was able to test them the same night I put them on. I was actually expecting them to be a bit brighter but I think I got what I paid for. They look great and definitely help to see in gnarly weather and are a significant upgrade over stocks. One day in the future when I hit the lottery, I'll spend over $400 on small little yellow lights.

Been on the fence about getting these. I'd really rather not tap into the DRL (I'm driving an SR). I probably would just forget about the backlight all together.

Then I say .. what's really wrong with my OEM Wide Angle OR lamps... They work...

These sure do put out a nice yellow light

    Hey there!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Our signature backlight feature is designed as an accent light rather than a daytime running light, so its visibility is more pronounced after dark, especially in the SS3 or Elite Series fog lamps.

Regarding performance, our Elite Series fog lamps offer output comparable to our SS3 Sport model, providing excellent visibility where needed.

We appreciate the feedback and will consider making a note more prominent on the product page. However, we do have a disclaimer in the information section:

NOTE: This harness is intended for use with our 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma SS3 and Elite Series fog lamps. Please check your factory connectors before ordering, as some halogen headlights do not have the necessary connector. It is not compatible with OEM LED headlamps from the factory.

That's the posture over here at TW.

I've been "just get em dude" on a few items for about a year or 2.

    Maybe I will. Some day

Don't tell my wife but.. 5100's, OME 887, 2" AAL, Bed LED lights, 32" Front LED, Seat Jackers
Thinking of changing my fogs from Lasfit Switchbacks to the DD Elites for my 2nd Gen Tacoma - Does anyone know what wire to tap off of for the backlight option on a 2015 Tacoma? Is it the same wires detailed in the DD installation video?

Any sales promos coming up from Diode Dynamics?

You can simply locate the 12v DRL lead from your headlights to tap. That's the most popular option to signal the backlight.

There no sales planned anytime soon but we'll be sure to give a heads up closer to the next sale period!
