lets not learn on this one & just move on....:D
in my 32 years in the industry ive never seen a fan clutch making a scraping sound...
they lock up & cause a very loud roaring sound as theyre pushing more air than they should...
or they freewheel & cause an overheat, that simple..

    if theyre seating oil, replace....
Dont be a tweaker & discuss fan clutch fluid & taking them apart.....:frusty:

& this has nothing to do with me not knowing & im just a parts replacer.....

I just wish Toyota sold the fan bracket separately from the whole damn assembly that includes the fan clutch but no blade, it's crazy!

I did go grab a new one at o’reiley’s & what a freakin difference, just uninstalled! It spins so freely. Makes me wonder if it’s too freely…. But I have to work at mine….

It should NOT spin freely. That's a bad one. It should turn maybe one fin more when you spin by hand. The way I found mine was bad was the fan was spinning its little heart out with a brushing noise after I shut the engine off.
