I have a 03 3.4 l double cab four wheel drive TRD.. I plan on towing a 4000 lb travel trailer to Maine from Virginia.. does anyone know if this particular truck came with a factory installed transmission oil cooler, any input on Towing this travel trailer would be helpful for those familiar

It seems to me that you might be asking a lot of your truck. I know mine doesn’t love pulling an open trailer with two Polaris sportsmen’s on it. As for the coolers, mine is a manual.

Does your VIN research show that it came with the tow package?

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I would be checking the frame and spring mounts on it before I tried that. Make sure your frame is in good shape. I would rent a full-size as it will not be fun and your truck will not like it. Keep in mind it's not just the 4k of what you are towing. It's whatever you put in it plus the weight in the truck to include you.

    That's a lot of trailer for a 1st gen.

That's too much trailer for long distancing a 1st gen.

I think what you are asking is is there a factory installed "auxilary" trans cooler and the answer to that is no, they are not that difficult to install. If you do proceed do you plan on towing from the bumper, not recommeded, or do you have class III or IV hitch installed? Brakes, brake controller and/or trailer lights adaptor are other things to consider.

I'm not sure what classes is for the hitch but it's bolted to the frame, and yes I will be incorporating a brake controller, thanks for your help

I haven't researched it by then, I just assumed it had a tow package with the TRD off road, and I have a transmission oil temperature warning light and assumed that meant it had a tow package, thanks for your help

You’ll be fine. If I remember correctly, the v6 is rated for 5,500 pounds. As far as I know, these trucks did not come with transmission coolers. You should install one.
