Is this whine from rear differential?

Googling around this problem on my 2020 4WD TRD Sport Double Cab. Big whine coming from center/rear. Gets really loud on the highway. When I let off the accelerator it goes away. Is this what I got: "A whine noise from the rear of a 2019-2023 Tacoma Double Cab, especially at around 50 mph, is a common issue, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) bulletin. This whine is often caused by a rear differential problem, specifically vibration transferring through the chassis and body."

Anyone else had this worked on/repaired? How much did you end up paying?

It’s a pretty common issue I would take it in to the dealer and see what they say since there is a TSB on it.

Thanks would this TSB fix be covered under 60k powertrain warranty?

If you are still under your 5 year 60K power train warranty take it in asap if it may need a new differential instead of the TSB especially if it’s really noisy.

The TSB says 3 yrs. 36K miles so it wouldn’t be covered but the differential replacement would be covered under the 5 yrs. 60K mile power train warranty.
