This isn’t a build post - this is just a current update on some adaptations Ive embraced and moved forward with.

I absolutely love the DB cover - its rock solid - nuf, said. However, there are some constraints on how your available space is situated - you lose that space between the top of your bed and the bottom of your bed rack etc.

Anyhow basic run down - the typical LLOD inspired set up - DB cover, front runner bars, Skycap Mini.
Kickass slimline AGM battery & MPPT controller
2 Lensun solar panels on 2 Vault pelican cases on my roof rack. Wires fed down and into the bed of the truck to feed into my Aux system.

Next, I wanted to run power to my tent, to power LED lights, and to connect things like my watch/phone, or electric blanket*.
So I had to make the bold move and drill through my iKamper - yea…..

But it sealed up nicely - then I ran my wires kinda neatly down to where I could feed the wires into a crease in the DB cover. (Yes I had to remove my tent for this)
That is then connected to a Blue Sea Systems box - which is then pipped straight to my Aux battery. Everything is fuzed on both ends.

The next limitation is where the hell do you put a trasharoo-type thing?? I hate feeding straps through my tailgate - nope - didnt like that option.
So underneath my frontrunner bars, I attached these decent sized eyelets - that way - via D-rings, I can attach a trasharoo-type thing?? On my DB set up.

Oh if your overland and have a DB - get yourself a “get-it-stick” I bought a $20 fire poker from Amazon - that way you can reach things without having to do the beached whale wiggling on the tailgate, as all dignity leaves your soul….

I am contemplating a higher rack set up in hopes of making more use of the cover and the space in the future.
Since I have no plans on using this as a flip up cover - I do need to get some clamps or something to secure each section down - but I haven’t recon’d that option out yet.

Anyways - thats all - thanks for tolerating my ‘tisim - haha

The space in-between your DB and the tent is indeed tight. I agree that a taller rack might be best give you more storage space.
Does the DB do a decent job in keeping water out ? I have been thinking of swapping from my Lomax to a DB so that I can add a rack on top of the cover on camping trips. With a family of 4, I run out of storage space fast in the bed.
