Mine was front/rear matched when I bought it. That's enough for me. The real trick is a high quality sunshade when you park it and keeping the windows cracked.

15% on fronts and 15% over the rear factory. Nothing on windshield.

I have super bright reverse lights so backing up is not a problem (I rely on the mirrors more than the camera, habit I suppose). But also I've had windows like this for decades so it doesn't bother me. If you aren't used to it it will probably take getting used to.

Only been hassled once in my wife's car with the same tint. No front tag either, and the police are tinted just as much. IDGAF much anymore even if I were to get hassled for it. Inspection never gives a shit either.

EDIT: After re-reading OP's post, I'll say if you are concerned about visibility issues as it gets darker, depending on where you live you might not like this.

Well, It doesn't work that way, the lower number will mean it will get so dark. For example:

    Darkest: 0% ------------ 50% (little dark) ------------ 100% Light (Clear)

You may want to change tint to 70% or no tint at all due your visibility.

This is what I did, kept the fronts light enough to see at night, and doubled up over the factory in the rear windows.
I can't remember the cost difference, but it wasn't much more for ceramic on the fronts and it definitely helps.

When I added front window ting of 50% my truck immediately became "not exactly comfy but not an oven" even in 115 degree summers in PHX. And my clip-on sunglasses are only needed when the sun is at horizon level.

I too tinted as a means to keep the cab cool here in Texas; less for privacy. Like others, I matched the rear window glass tint. It's not legal in my area, but I've never been pulled over for it. The issue for me was not being pulled over for it, but passing state inspections. I have two mods on my truck that fail inspection, so now I have a specific inspector that I go to with whom I have...an understanding.

I would recommend tinting to the AS1 line on the windshield. I originally did this in hope that it would keep the cabin that much cooler in the Texas heat, but I think I would do it again regardless of where I live as it does make a pretty effective sun visor too without totally blocking visibility, which comes in handy on morning commutes when the sun is at the exact same level as traffic lights.

I went with 32% Lumar on the front windows only and they are slightly lighter than the rear windows. 32% is legal in Alabama and I don't want to deal with tickets. I'd guess the OEM rear windows are about 25% and my installer doesn't carry anything in between 20% and 32%. I also did a strip on the windshield.

From vast experience with cops I've learned that most don't care about window tint and understand why you get it. They only care if they can see inside the vehicle they've stopped. If you get pulled over, I recommend rolling down ALL windows before the officer gets to your Taco. If pulled over at night then turn on the interior lights. Keep your hands in plain view and don't look for or retrieve paperwork until it's asked for. I've never had an officer even mention the window tint, which I always keep at 5%. They deal with the original reason for the stop and only go beyond that if you give them a reason to.

I can stand 3" away from my windows and can't see the inside at all. Never been pulled over for dark tint here in Tennessee.

I just have to stay our of Virginia....lol

Virginia State Troopers will pull you over in a heartbeat for tinted windows. If its illegal tint anything below 35% they will hand you a special razor blade for tint removal and have you remove all side window tint before they will let you leave...

Same here. I also have a 6 -8 inch strip across the top windshield  Anyone tinting should check the laws first so you don't get dinged by the police.
Let the tinting company you use, will advize dos and don't s.

I've been pulled over by an Alabama State trooper specifically for my tint about 10 years ago. He didn't give me a tick because my tint was legal. I was pulled over about 6 years ago for speeding by a local cop and he checked my tint. Once again, legal tint so no ticket... no speeding ticket either. I see lots of folks that have illegal tint but I just don't want to deal with the legal headaches and I also find it harder to drive at night with dark tint. Maybe times have changed and they don't enforce the tint laws here in Alabama anymore.
