Looks like an aftermarket security system to me. Did it come with an alarm?

Most likely a dealer installed 'alarm' They are crap and barely worth anything. Check behind it to see if the wires even are hooked up, if the original buyer didn't want to pay for it all they do is unplug them as it's not worth paying someone to remove it.

Hopefully they didn't splice into the vehicle's wiring harness. If that isn't done perfectly, it can give you problems. I'll never intentionally splice into my vehicle's wiring...it just isn't worth the trouble. If you want an aftermarket head unit, buy the harness that connects to it. If you want an alarm, find one that has a harness that will plug into your Tacoma.

(I had a 2008 TSX that had an aftermarket remote starter installed by the previous owner. It had a constant battery drain.)

Had one of those on my Tacoma when I bought it at Carmax. It's a Carr alarm. I removed it because it was malfunctioning. I then installed an N2 Designs remote start/keyless entry kit, very happy with it.

Completely depends on how they spliced into the harness. I spent 15 years installing car stereo and alarms and did lots of wire splicing for alarms as they didn't make adapter harnesses for it back then. Proper solder and heat shrink works great for connections, solder and quality electrical tape still great just not quite as good, barrel crimps not so great, wire taps, crap.

There was either something wrong with the install or the product for your Acura to have a battery drain from a remote start.

Looks like a KARR system. A cheap alarm dealers put in to have one-remote opening of all the cars on the lot for salespeople. They then try to sell it as a vehicle alarm to customers at a good profit. If one insists they’ll put a “deactivating” plug in place of its normal chip and leave all the crap in place, including multiple insulation-displacement (grr…) wire taps.
