    @Soft Taco First off, thanks for all this (especially the one for the 2.7L!!) and thanks for your videos.

    My 2016 2.7L 4WD Tacoma is coming up on 60k miles. I've always had a shop do my maintenance, but the prices are getting crazy now so I'm off researching to learn how to do most everything myself now. Team Oil Drop videos are awesome (even though they show the 3.5L).

    Anyway, after going through the service manual (that I also got from another Tacomaworld thread), I wrote down pages of notes and want to print out your 2.7L pdf as a summary. I compared it with my notes from the service manual and found some differences. Can you confirm what is and is not correct? I am not a mechanic, so if I mis-read the service manual, let me know... I do give the service manual page numbers and section titles for reference for where I get my info:

    1. Spark Plugs - your PDF shows part # DENSO SK20HR-A11 ... I show DENSO FK20HR-A8 (page 5988 under section "2TR-FE IGNITION: IGNITION SYSTEM: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION")
    2. Front Diff Fluid drain plug torque - your PDF shows 48 ft-lbs. ... I show 29 ft-lbs (page 2143 under section "DIFFERENTIAL: DIFFERENTIAL OIL: ADJUSTMENT"). Here's what the manual says (looks like its saying for both drain and fill plugs, the torques are the same for front (29 ft.lbs) and same for the back (36 ft.lbs) ??):
    Torque:
    Front differential carrier assembly -
    39 N·m {398 kgf·cm, 29ft·lbf}
    Rear differential carrier assembly -
    49 N·m {500 kgf·cm, 36ft·lbf}
    3. Engine Oil drain plug torque - your PDF shows 30 ft-lbs ... I show 28 ft-lbs. (page 5996 under section "2TR-FE LUBRICATION: OIL AND OIL FILTER: REPLACEMENT")

    Hey, I love the attention to detail!

    1. 2015 the 2TR-FE was using the SK20, 2016 Toyota did switch to to the FK20. I should annotate this on the tracker.

    2 & 3 - I’ll dive in next time in front of a computer.

    The note needing added for 1 warrants a version change of the tracker regardless. Appreciate the help!

    Random autistic side note but a TOD grill emblem vinyl cover or some such would be kinda baller.

    We could use one for the current generation RAV4. Seriously.

    That said I haven't looked at this thread in close to a year. It's evolved quite nicely. I need to print it out as my 2019 is a few thousand away from 100,000 miles.

    Question I am at 12,184 miles Only and I don't do any off roading so should I change my front & rear diff at (15k service ) or wait to ( 30k routine ) ? what's the difference ? my Tacoma is a pavement princes .....

    The red circles apply to 'Severe' use only.

    As a self-identified pavement princess, and the fact that you have tint and a TRD Pro grille listed in your avatar, you have zero to worry about at 15,000 miles when it comes to the F&R diff fluid.

    Si, even I don't follow "severes" except of course for engine oil. I actually just pushed out another map that eliminated severe intervals and remedied the 10k oil change issue.

    Just hit 50k miles but I went on at least 6 off road trips last year. Anything additional I need to do for 50k service?

    I probably have a bad thermostat and I think the engine burns a little rich

    Thanks for this Tyler. I’m new to the Tacoma gang and look forward to learning how to take care of my own truck. Hoping I can get to 2-3 billion kms.

    Thank you for the time and effort on this Tyler! The free maintenance that came with my taco is going to end soon and I plan on doing future maintenance myself, so this maintenance map helps a ton.

    These maintenance maps are great. The videos are even more impressive. I appreciate that they are no frills and cut right to the chase.

    I just did my 30k service and it went pretty smooth. Luckily I didn't have any issues with the front diff drain plug but it did require some penetrating spray and a little bit of ooga dooga to break it loose. I had more issues with the rear diff drain and fill plugs. They were on there solid and I pulled out a breaker bar after a few failed attempts. I didn't drop the spare or have to use a fill hose for the front. I found some valvoline gear oil but they packaged it in these "flex fill" containers. They're kind of great. It allowed me to bend the nipple and squeeze the bag to push fluid into the diff. I'd recommend it just for ease of use.
