Having had a few beers and with a glare on my phone because the sun is at my back while I dangle my feet in the pool, I read that as "outrage map."

Either someone hits the pole or tree takes out the line. Idaho power finally put a backup line in. Still ranges from 10 -12 hrs to get it back on. Finally got a generator for the camper.

Water came within a foot of my mom's back porch
But she just needed her septic pumped

My brother lost a few shingles

    They were definitely lucky

I have a slightly smaller version, same brand
But I got it like 50% off because it doesn't have the CO auto off safety shit...

I figure if I run it in an enclosed garage, I get what I deserve

It is definitely more than that - add in the electrical work, the gas line, the automatic transfer switch and of course the service contract..
I am sure I am missing something but 12K is a low estimate

There is a reason I have a portable and an interlock - cause it was cheap and it works good enough

    I guess fire isn't a 'weather'
I learnt not to trust the greedy utilities to maintain their shit or fix it in a timely fashion

Also, this happened one county south of me - like a month after I got my generator hook up
    https://abc11.com/moore-county-one-year-power-grid-substation-attack/14138102/
Terrorist [at large still] took a rifle and took targeted shots at the substation - destroying critical equipment, it took almost a week to restore power there

    Crazy times

It’s too easy to have a 5500 or similar generator to run the fridge/freezer and a few items. Just have a few Jerry cans with ethanol free fuel and stabil in them. Put a petcock on the fuel supply and a filter. You can shutdown via the petcock and keep things ready to go. If you have natural gas, consider a dual fuel with the attachment kit. Wishing you luck!
