    I would 100%

check the born on date on the tire
    4digit stamp

    for example
    3619
    means
    36th week of 2019

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Normally, I would say no. Sidewalls look good though, what do they look like between the tread blocks? Cracking? How were they stored? Temp controlled? No UV light? Being Michellin, I'd be a bit more forgiving as long as there isn't cracking in the tread blocks...sidewall is only part of the equation.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I just pitched a pair of tires my young son bought when he was at university. His mother MADE him get snow tires for whatever car he had at the time. Never mounted!

They sat in the lower level of the shop, off the dirt floor, no sunshine ever.
But wide cracks between the treads. They would have made great lawn trailer tires ;-)

Will be cheaper to buy new tires vs having a blow out and causing damages to vehicle or injuring other drivers out there.

I used to never give this a second thought. But then one year 60 minutes or one of those shows, have some video of the complete tread coming off the tire when driving down the interstate. Was not a pretty sight, and it change my mind on keeping my tires up to date. When they hit the manufacturers recommended change interval like 6 or 7 years, they get changed, no matter how good they look.

Personally I'd at least put some weight on them (install them) and see if any hairline cracks or bulges occur. If not, run them around town. Prolly avoid freeways

I just replaced a set of tires that still had decent tread that were 8 years old. 22? Without question.

2nd half 2003 production is too old, IMO, to take the chance.

And I’m not a scaredy cat around older rubber, although having spent a lifetime in polymer science and technology I’m well aware of the effects of aging and weathering on rubber compounds.

I’m still running a set of BFG A/T KOs (not KO2s) from c 2010-12 on my Gen 1, but I’m not pushing them at all and they’re on the list to replace over the next months when I’m back in New Mexico. They probably have 20k+ miles left in them, which would put them well over 100k miles, but that’s just too old for a truck I want to be able to get im and go anywhere.

My 1962 Triumph TR3 has Vredestein Sprint Classics from 2010, but that car lives in a closed garage and usually gets fewer than 100 miles/year of gentle driving. The tubed tires (on wire wheels) look perfect and I’m not planning to replace those — yet.

100% change them. Michelins are generally supior tires... unless aged.the way they are built is unique and aging tires tend to seperate.

The potential for catastrophic failure isn't worth it. Safety is no accident. Get some new shoes!

What did they come off of, and why have they sat for so long unused? They're Michelins, so top quality tires, but yeah, they're way old. Are the sidewalls crack-free? Can you see cracks between the tread blocks? What kind of driving will you do if you use them?

I have a '99 Avalon that had Michelins as the OE tire. The car belonged to my Mom, and since she didn't drive (old and blind) the car sat in her garage about 90% of the time. Today, the car only has 40K on it and up until last year, was on the original tires. They held air, no cracks and stayed balanced, but the ride was less than great, you could tell they had gotten hard because they started acting like old bias-ply tires, they'd get a flat spot from sitting and it took about 10 miles for them to "round out" again.

Run them a week and see how they do., but don't expect them to ride like new tires. It's a shame they didn't get worn out while they were newer, they weren't cheap when they were new.

Brakes and tires are too important. Yeah, you could probably get a little bit of life out of them, but not worth the risk imo. I guess it also depends on your experience driving. If you've blow tires on track or trail and were able to appropriately handle your vehicle into a safe position then I might be more inclined to give it a try.
