I don’t like that the bed camera only stays on for a few seconds. Wish you could lock it on for longer

A grab handle on drivers side a-pillar or above the door would be nice

Never going to happen. That request has been sitting unread in Toyota’s inbox for a decade now. Sigh.

Actually, I think the cost of making a Super Bowl commercial bragging about grab handles in Tacomas cancelled out the budget for installing a real drivers grab handle.

You'll have to wait for the LC truck to come out to get that grab handle.

When I made the mistake of buying a Chevy Silverado they did something to make more money that pissed me off which was offer items that should have been standard equipment when you went to see their " accessories manager" during the buying ordeal. But at least they offered them as an accessory option. These were all OEM parts not aftermarket. They had drivers door hand trim piece, wheel well liners and all kinds of other parts. I left with a new truck with the bed filled with all the parts they left off that I wanted. Toyota should at least do that and offer some upgrade trim pieces as accessories.

I love mine. It is by far the best vehicle I've driven. I do love my F-150 Lariat with all its bells and whistles (2010), but its a bear to work out of with it's insanely high bed height. It's also a nightmare loading up whitetails solo. It is quite spacious on the inside, so I gave it to my wife when her van's cvt trans took a shit on the interstate. My favorite vehicles are old shitbox Ford rangers because of how compact they are, and how accessible everything in the bed is.
The Tacoma is the best of both worlds. I love that the Tacoma is quite tight on the interior as well. I'm not living out of it, I'm working out of it. When it's pulling more duty than serving as my daily, it's doing farm chores, beer runs, and outdoor recreation. If I need my chainsaw, I reach over the side of the bed and grab it without getting on my tip toes. Need my water jug, reach blindly in the back seat and grab it. Need to toss an animal in the back, easy. Need 4wd, plop my hand down and turn the knob. Need to make a call, hit a spot with cell service and do it from the radio system. Best of all, this is my first vehicle in years with a functional AC system. It's my first with heated seats. It's my first automatic, geared transmission I trust.
It gets plenty of power for my country, curvy, hilly roads. It gets 22+ mpg so far.
I'm not a huge fan of all the tech, but that's where we are now, so I need to catch up to the times.

I dislike the (fair) price I payed for it but trucks aren't getting any more affordable.

If I didn't have the need for a truck bed, I'd certainly get the 4R, but my life demands a truck bed. I hate the smell of gasoline on the interior of my vehicle, and dead animals start to stink on the drive home. Plus, stink bait is strictly for the truck bed. And you can't use a skeet thrower inside a 4R.
