Freshly Ceramic Pro’d PPF on the Taco. Resting easy knowing the front clip, A pillars, mirrors, fender flares and bedsides are now protected

Nice. I’d be interested to know how much you paid and to hear back in say 12 months on how this performs!

2200$. This is the second vehicle I’ve used PPF on. It’s a proven paint saver. My other vehicle survived many rock chips over 52k. Just having it cover my bedsides gives me peace of mind

Have you tried it down a gravel road at speed yet to see if it works?

My philosophy now after 3-4 new trucks is that if it's going to chip, scratch or swirl it's just going to happen and no amount of money is going to cover you completely.

Sooner you accept that reality, the better for your mind and wallet.

To each its own. The vehicle below was PPF from new, traded it in - excellent condition because I care and in turn received excellent trade in money, paying in excess what was invested. Once tried, once proven.

That was better for my mind and wallet .

I've used PPF on my weekend cars for years. Definitely worth the investment if chips bother you, but something you want to do very early in the vehicle's life. Otherwise it will only draw attention to existing chips.

Not sure which year/model that is (I'm not an Audi guy) or what the PPF for it cost. Getting more than you invested in the PPF may be a stretch but I guess breaking even and not having to look at rock chips might make it worthwhile... for a sports car/sedan. Having a 100% chip free truck screams mall crawler. The few I've had on previous vehicles I would fill with touch-up paint and were only visible to me every six months (or so) when I would clay/polish/wax. Everyone's tolerance for "imperfection" differs. $2,200 @8% over six years is $3,500, I'd trade it in a year sooner with the savings.

Will you drive it offroad at all? Any gravel roads or is it a pavement princess?

It’s an RS5 which values at 37k which brought 41k at trade.

I paid 1600$ for the PPF, there were NO imperfections in the front. The car was in excellent condition.

My interest rate is no where near 8%. Actual 5% in which I always lend at 60 months.

In summary keeping a car in good condition will pay back.

it will be in Tennessee and Ky on the trails. Another reason for PPF on fenders, flares and A pillars

You'll still get a chip somewhere not protected, its inevitable, every single ppf'd vehicle of mine, but at least you got the known problem areas addressed. I'd start budgeting for a redo cause even the self healing stek and stuff is gonna look like sh*t on the bedside areas in a few years.

From my experience with my PPF'd vehicles most dealers DGAF and anyone who thinks the PPF got them a better trade offer it was only so the dealer would shut you up and got money somewhere else in the deal. For me and my OCD its worth it but for most DDs it is not.

I think everyone is missing the point. When a dealer presents you with data on trade values (they did me) it shows values in the poor fair good and excellent ranges. If the condition of the vehicle is kept in excellent condition, and there is dollars difference that equals your return on investment. The dealer had no idea it was PPF protected. This is economics 101 people

I don’t use that brand. The Audi lasted 5 years with Ceramic Pro with no issues so I used their newer technology on the taco

I am also recovering from my OCD-style obsession with the finish on my cars -- I keep things nicely, no question, but I have gotten less intense, mainly because of the amount of effort and resources required. My 4R isn't a pavement princess, but it does look very well-kept (and it's only 4 years old). Occasionally my friend and I will buff out scratches and give it a wax, but driving in the mud and snow and the soft MGM paint just do their damage. I just figured that eventually I would get it repainted if it got too bad. It hasn't, because I switch vehicles and the aforementioned occasional care.

(Off topic, but on the 4R I am totally nuts about washing the frame and underside of the truck, to try to get rid of the salt. I opted not to coat the underside, but to keep it clean as best I can. Not sure if I will try some B'Laster Surface Shield on it at some point, but was thinking I would do on the Taco Trailhunter from new, if I could get it up on a lift.)

And of course, if you are an obsessive car-flipper like one of my friends, it makes sense to protect a new vehicle. He almost never buys new though.
