Ceramic coat it with Gtechniq CSL and Exo V5. C4 on the trim. It'll make the paint last a lot longer.

Most important of all - outside of maintenance and repair, do what makes you happy. Not some stranger on a forum.

Grease up your driveshaft / Ujoints, especially the zerk in the rear, that'll help. That is a common problem on these trucks.

    :rofl:Negative on the 10+ hp's

I had one of those on my truck 20 years ago when I didnt know better and although it sounded cool, it wasnt worth it. Gums up the mass air flow sensor and causes check engine lights.

Remember this is a 190 hp truck engine. It's not losing 10hp (Would be a ~5% power loss) to something as simple as an intake - for all that Toyota isn't competing on horsepower, they're not going to give up on 10hp and free fuel economy for something that easy.

For a sense of how implausible this is, a Magnuson supercharger adds just 70 hp to this engine. So K&N (and all other manufacturers of short ram intakes) are claiming they're achieving 1/7th the gains of a $3k+ supercharger for a $300 intake. Unless you've got third-party testing to prove it, I'm going to press X to doubt.

All that said, if you like the sound, go for it. Just don't over-oil the filter. That's a fast way to MAF replacement town.
