I'd be more interested if it also had a solid front axle, but we'll be looking at them against the R1S and R2S when it comes time to swap out the Model 3. Unless what I saw was incorrect, though, the range seemed dreadfully short.

Supposed to be a 350 mile range which isn’t terrible. By the time they’re released in a couple years I wouldn’t be surprised if that number is either higher or the battery is smaller/more efficient and still gets 350 miles.

What I saw on The Drive said 250. Must have been a typo.

I will say, one thing (aside from the solid rear axle) that I really like on the Scouts over the Rivian: The headlights.

Tbh I'd rather it be closer to 100 miles EV and use the REX for more range after that. Would make it lighter, too.

I'm with you. I loved my Chevy Volt and wish there were more hybrids like it.

As much as I can't stand Leno, that video he did the other day with the Scout CEO has me even more intrigued by it.

    https://electrek.co/2025/03/10/the-legend-of-the-tesla-killer-finally-came-true-and-its-elon-musk/

In the early days of Tesla, the media loved to use the term ‘Tesla killer’ every time a legacy automaker launched a new EV.

At the time, we scolded them for using it, as they would apply it to electric vehicles that didn’t match Tesla’s performance, production volumes, or profitability.

Sure enough, none of them came even close to negatively affecting Tesla, let alone “killing” the company.

I hang out in the Reddit Tesla and EV subs and lately it's 50/50 hate for the CEO / I just bought a Tesla! The fan boys say the sales slide is due to external factors with European subsidies going away in 2024 and the arrival of the Model Y update. The haters say it's 100% the CEO. It is hard to tell what's really happening. I sold my TSLA stock for a pretty good gain. I wasn't willing to sit on it in hopes that the CEO doesn't tank it completely. If it starts going up again I might jump on for another ride.

Battery maker Northvolt has filed for bankruptcy in Sweden, capping the downfall of a company once regarded as Europe’s best hope of competing in an industry dominated by China.

The Swedish start-up, which has backers including Volkswagen, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock, said on Wednesday that it had been unable to secure financing to continue and that a court-appointed trustee would sell its assets.

“It’s been a little bit of a rollercoaster ride. It is a very sad day,” Tom Johnstone, Northvolt’s interim chair, told the Financial Times.

It is an ignominious end for a company that attracted $15bn of corporate and government investment to develop technology for electric vehicles where Europe is playing catch-up to Asian countries such as China, Japan and South Korea.

Northvolt filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US in November but had spent recent months in talks with some 100 potential investors about putting in $1bn to secure the future of its sole existing battery factory in Skellefteå, just below the Arctic Circle.

A Financial Times investigation previously found that the group — led by two former Tesla managers — had tried to open as many as six factories at the same time. Ten current and former employees said there were problems with poor management, safety standards and an over-reliance on Chinese machinery.

After it was founded in 2016, Northvolt quickly became Europe’s best-funded start-up, winning attention from top government officials in Germany, Canada, Sweden and Brussels.

But the Swedish government, unlike those in Canada and Germany, declined to offer major subsidies to the group and last year, investors backed out of a financing round at the last minute. Its planned Canadian and German factories are not part of the bankruptcy.

This guys channel is pretty good and unbiased, he is a Fire Captain that also worked in EV battery design, so he has no agenda to push on anyone.

I thought this was interesting. A new way to fight EV fires.

Edit- and is it a truck or not. Trucks look the way they do for a reason and the CT doesn’t fit the bill. When someone stops trying to reinvent the wheel and settles for simply changing horses they might have something.
