Anyone here using a tonneau cover see improvements in their gas mileage? I don't keep anything in my truck that needs covering, but if I can get better mpg by lowering wind drag I might throw down the 1k$ to get one.

How long would it take you to recoup that $1000 investment at maybe 1-2 MPG improvement???? I have a Pace Edwards canister tonneau since not long after truck purchase, but I bought it for protection of stuff in my bed, not for MPG improvement.

I have not seen anything noticeable. I think that the extra weight likely negates any gains. Be interesting to see if anyone says they saw any measurable improvement. An extra mile to the gallon?

It would be interesting to see if anyone did wind-tunnel test with and without a Tonneau cover to see how streamlines are impacted. If the cab serves as the wind break, and the streamlines don't come back down to the bed, the addition of a cover probably doesn't matter...

Considering it is all aluminum, weight isn't a factor, but as mentioned, if I could get 3+ mpg more over say 10 yrs and keep the occasional cargo dry it might be something I'd consider and reason why I'm asking if anyone who's already had one noticed any difference.

As opposed to taking off the tailgate to get the same thing? :D If I had a long road trip to do I might take off the gate but wouldn't expect a big change. Mine had a hard shell tonneau on it when I bought it, color matched to the truck, it was off the truck that night and sold on Cragslist in 2 days. They never made a lot of sense to me (except for protecting walk-by theft.)

It will keep your cargo (mostly) dry if traveling in inclement weather.

If you live where snow is common in winter, it keeps the snow and ice out of the bed so you don't need to shovel / chop it out...

And if you live in an area where things can easily walk away, it makes sense to have one installed.

    YMMV.

Just get one from Chinamazon or $500 or less. I got a trifold hard cover fro $499 and it's actually not too bad. For the money I think it was a pretty good deal. Decent build quality and went on pretty easily. It attaches to the rails inside the bed.

I have the 5 ft bed. Not sure if they offer a 6ft option.
On a side note, for some reason all the replies I am reading here have been translated into spanish.. wth is up with that? Anyone else running into this?
