4th gen manual hard to find

I picked up a 2024 with a manual on Monday.
When I searched for a TRD OR with moonroof, Softex, 14” (Premium) I had to parse through tons of automatics and found (3) manuals in the USA. One happened to be in STL, MO near me and the others were in WA and MA.
I asked the dealer “why is a 2024 still here?” and he said “it’s a manual and it’s white; are you sure that’s what you want?” … at least there was no pressure

It took me almost 5 months to get an off road with manual. As mentioned the dealer can request one twice a month but not order one. Keep after them and maybe one will pop up with the options you want.

 

It was hard to find one!

A bit easier if I was willing to compromise on some things but my two dailys have vinyl seats and it is hot here. Had to have the ventilated seats which began to complicate things.

Then to make things worse, one of my dailys has sway-bar disconnect and having used it off-road, I could not purchase anything new without it. This dropped availability into single digits.

 

Just did a quick search at a local high volume dealer . 201 autos, 0 manuals. Look like you’re fighting an uphill battle.

 

I just checked on Cars.com and selected New Manual Tacoma's within 200 miles and it kicked up 25 to pick from.

 

So then what's the fucking problem everyone on this thread is saying they can find manuals? Maybe you could act as a manual trans broker.

I think the manuals are around, not here, but when you start stacking a few options the search options start dropping the numbers pretty quick.

 

On Autotrader right now, 9 available within 300 miles of me. Looked at a couple that had actual pictures and 2 were automatics!

So, 7… or less.

From personal experience, calling the selling dealers for most of those listings will let you know there are actually deposits on them.

Most dealers will show the manual trucks on online listings up until the exact moment the vehicle is picked up.

 

Last fall, I drove onto a lot locally in Virginia and test drove a red manual with the big screen. There was no deposit on it. And there were several more on their way to the dealership. I could have put a deposit on a Solar Octane manual with the big screeen, but they wanted all the money and then some for it. Maybe allotment is regional or where they've historical sold more manuals?

 

Maybe us Texans don't manual?

Also, I threw in a random Virgina zip code with 300 mile radius and 20 popped up but only 1 with actual pictures. I think you are definitely on to something with region but also the other person with deposits on the ones listed with stock images.

Luckily I didn't care much about color, just specific options. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have gone with underground.

 

I told my dealer guy I wanted a manual before the 4th gen launched and he told me as soon as they got one allocated.

Only options we are missing in Canada for 6MT that I want was the big screen and leather seats but my truck has just about everything else.
