My 2019 TRD OR 4x4 throttle is super finicky at low speeds. Most of the time when I'm in stop and go rush hour traffic or at parking lot speeds and I give it just a little throttle, it'll lurch forward and snap my head back. Sometimes it's not so bad but it's really getting annoying.

Is this normal for a Tacoma and would the OTT fix this?

are you the original owner? sounds like it may already have a tune with the aggressive throttle setting.

I'm not the original owner. I bought it about 6 months ago. Great shape and good milage for this area. It has some extras that weren't even in the description at the time.

When I took it for a test ride it's the very first thing I noticed when I pulled out of the lot. The pedal seemed a bit heavy even compared to my 2005 Ranger (which was already heavy). Once the pedal finally moved, it really pushed us back when we took off. We both laughed because it was such a large acceleration. I thought I could feather it over time but it's just really touchy.

I assume if it already has the tune, they'll be able to tell. I certainly don't want to pay for it again if I don't have to.

Sounds like its tuned. I've been through a few variations of tunes, and they've all behaved in this manner. Some are better than others in this area, but they've all acted this way in my experience. I'm not aware of any ECU calibration TSB's for 2019+, but you may can try to find one, tell a dealer you're experiencing whatever symptoms of said TSB, and let them flash the updated (stock) tune to your truck. Or try to contact someone from a few of the tuning groups with your VIN and see if they can tell you if its registered with VF? Idk if thats plausible, but its where I'd start; KD Max (now Yotawerx tuning group) and OTT tuning group are the 2 largest I think.

I'd also be checking for a Pedal Commander or other throttle behavior changing products installed. Did you buy from a dealer or individual?

Gotcha, so they'll have no idea if it was tuned.
@PapaRee @JustDSM if OP sent you his VIN, would you be able to verify if his new (used) truck ever had credits with VFtuner or some other verification process to see if its tuned?

If it's tuned on the OTT-CE calibration, we'll have the VIN. If it was tuned by us prior to 1/24, we won't have a record of it.

Before I had my truck tuned, I had to push the petal about half way to get it to go. Definitely sounds like you got a tune if it’s that touchy. How does it drive at highway speeds in cruise control? Is it downshifting to 5th and 4th on slight inclines? If not, definitely a tune is on your truck.

It's seems to be fine on the highway. I was wondering if I needed the tune after hearing stories of Tacos gear hunting and such but I haven't experienced that.
