    Howdy folks,

First off, I’m not pre-diabetic or diabetic. I do generally watch what I eat for the most part.

For sweeteners what are you using that isn’t causing a rise in blood sugar, something that can be consumed without having to worry if it has a high glycemic index? I generally use sweeteners in the morning for tea and oatmeal.

I have used a bunch such as stevia, Splenda, Sweet N’ Low but at the end of the day they generally have other things added that have extra sugars/carbs (dextrose, maltodextrin, natural flavors, etc). So I’m curious what so you use and generally feel pretty good about using?

^Erythritol (Stevia) is supposed to be most healthy, but I don't like its taste. I ended up using aspartame.

Replies will run the gamut so here’s my $0.02.

Just ween yourself off the sweet stuff (almost) entirely. I prefer to have real sugar way less often than try to substitute it for the fake crap.

I crave water more than anything!

About the only time I use any is for corn bread. About 1 time a month we make it .

I like honey as my go to sweetener.

I learned to drink my drinks straight, and I really watch the sugar content in things like breads and condiments. You'd be surprised how much sugar is hidden in sliced bread. I stopped buying that completely, and instead I carefully read the labels at the fresh baked stuff.

I think the artificial sucrose look-a-likes are worse than sucrose, so I won't touch em.

Like the color of my skin, brown sugar for me. In coffee and hot tea. But, before adding the sweet stuff, I take a couple sips first, then add the sugar. I find, for me, this helps not add as much sugar as I used to. I also used to add a lot of sugar in my cold cereal. Now, I add raisins.

100% sweetener free here after weaning off it all years ago. Only 1/2 & 1/2 in coffee and a little honey in tea and on plain Greek yogurt with fruit & nuts.

Also avoid/minimize added sugars as much as possible.

I'd avoid anything made in a lab and stick to natural sweeteners.
