Why does the ATF hate me? Waiting from Dec 20 when everyone else is less than a week.

Finally got approved. Got the email today, on a Sunday at noon. Does that seem odd it was approved on a Sunday prior to a Monday Federal holiday?

NFA branch brought on a bunch of contract workers about a year back IIRC. They might have a non-typical schedule.

Mine took almost exactly the same amount of time as yours. No idea why I was running up to like 60 days when most people are inside of a week.

My first was 18 months, but that was the normal wait back then. Amazing how fast some are being approved, as they should be.

A little of this and a little of that.
I purchased a Griffin Armament Checkmate last Saturday, it was ready to certify on Tuesday, and was able to pick it up on Friday. Six days! It is in a trust as well.

Anyone done a form 1 and made your own can recently? I've got a lathe again, would be a fun use of it, but the last I looked into it it sounded like they were blocking people from doing so. Was a couple years ago now though...

Not recently. I quit Form1-ing cans after the Diversified Machine warning letter escapade. There are no "solvent trap" parts available anymore. There are (were) a few places that sell kits, but they make you get the stamp first. And they're pretty expensive for what you get. Spending that kind of $$ you'd just be better off buying a commercial can. At least you know it's probably been R&D'd and has a warranty.

Same thing with 80% stuff. Most places still selling 80% receivers now require them to be serialized and 4473'd.

But if you have a lathe, you can go nuts!
