Yes, it is doable. I recommend keeping the provided relay in the circuit.

Yes…no need to bleed the breaks…unless you have a soft petal. But then you got other problems.

Picked up a junkyard radio, junkyard trim piece, harness from https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/ and installed a 2020 radio into my 2017 SR5.

Took about 10 minutes and had zero hiccups along the way.

    Screenshot 2025-04-19 at 9.02.41 AM.png

Total cost was somewhere about $600-700 bucks. Hope to get a couple hundred back from selling the original radio and trim piece (PM me if you want them). Could have upgraded, but I like the OEM look, volume knobs are a must, and can't beat the install time.

"Clean" is a condition for BMWs and Audis, not Tacomas.

Its funny. I find myself leaning more towards this attitude with the truck than I normally would. Like you could eat off of my wife's engine but, I would not recommend it with the Taco.

Hella Supertones. Only get the red ones. And if you can find REAL German ones, get those. They started farming out manufacturing to India a while ago so it is really tough. The yellows are :(. I wired (4), in series, on my old STI. They get people's attention for sure.

I’m in the same boat. I don’t have a problem with the sharptones at all, but I plan to eventually get a set of supertones and then wire in both sets of Hellas and the oems. 3 is better than one! :D

I don't use cruise control often. I haven't had any interference problems.

For those that do not already know, "Just open the cap" is to open the cap on the master cylinder reservoir, and squeeze the calipers pistons back into the caliper (making room for the thickness of the new pads), while watching to be sure you do not overflow the reservoir (brake fluid will remove paint).

No need to bleed, because you never opened the system, or introduced air. To be crystal clear, you do NOT OPEN the bleeders.

Turkey baster works great for sucking out excess brake fluid.

Just getting ready for a bit of low key off road fun. I'm heading to the Clear Creek Management area Thursday (got my permits on line) last time I was there was 20 yrs ago on my KTM after a massive rain.

The following week I drive back to Denver in the Taco to attend a wedding and I'm going to spend a few days in Moab on the way back.

To that end I cobbled together some stuff from my garage to go along with my limited off road gear shown in the photo. The things in the bed not really visible (compressor, FasterFlate system, patch kit, bottle jack, blocks, snap strap, tow strap and soft & hard shackles plus two shackle receiver mounts). I don't have a winch but if another vehicle there at least has a tow hitch we could succeed at a recovery. I won't be camping, the bed will be almost empty so I needed to secure everything down.

20yrs ago, stuck in the mud at Clear Creek. What did all my riding buddies do? They grabbed their cameras and snapped pics and of course posted them on the Adventure Rider Forum I was Admin and Mod on. I'm hoping this trip goes better.

20+ yrs ago; hard to tell from the photo but back then I was a much better off road motorcyclist than I am a 4x4 off road person now.

When one employs someone to do something, one should not bitch about the cost of choosing not to do it one’s self.

I am mostly on I65 north of Nashville... I had to go through Nashville to the other side last week for something and absolutely hated the traffic, soooo glad I don't have to go there much anymore... I'm ready to move to east TN or at least further away from people... Heck, if it wasn't for needing to be close to a Hospital for the wifey's and my heath issues, I'd move out to BFE somewhere...:rofl::rofl:
