^You know that meme about the Simpsons being able to afford a two-story detached house on a single income without college education, and that was considered normal in 1989?

Not quite. Wage growth has been strong.

    IMG_5055.jpg

Wage growth has also outpaced inflation since early 2023.

The more they increase the price the more yall crazies buy them. If I were toyota you wouldn't be able to touch a toyota truck for less than $70k and Id sell more than the world has ever seen. my new 23 sr DC 4wd was just under $36k OTD no trade and no down payment. and its not detuned.

This implies a real wage growth of $5.00 more per hour from 2020-2025. Even the hypothetical scenario of 3.5% wage growth outpaces the real wage by $2.30.

I think the asertain of wages not keeping up with inflation is accurate. Then if you add in inflation, a person is actually making less in 2025 than in 2020.

Toyota hopefully knows this. If they don't, they will die a liquidity death by a thousand cuts...

They are selling, I do not see alot, but the Gen 4s are selling. My family and friends have all moved on from Toyota, they though other brands offered more bang for their buck :notsure:

No going from about $28 in 2020 to $36 in 2025 implies a real wage growth of $8 over that time period. Not sure what you're trying to ascertain but I think you've got it wrong.

Look again at the second graph how wage growth has outpaced inflation for more than two years straight now.

Edit: to put a point on this, from early 2020 until now cumulative wage growth is about 22% and cumulative inflation over the same period is about 21%.

I had to put my mother in an Assisted Living facility 9 years ago. Back then it was $5000 per month.

Just got back from Eugene, OR (hour drive away) and tested a 4th gen. Not really impressed. I'll keep my 2020 TRD Sport 4WD, V-6, auto with 18,300 miles.

Inflation is cumulative, it never went down. It just increased at a lower rate.

That graph is not an accurate representation of inflation fundamentals. It's just looking at the "% change". The better graph to look at is the "real" wages vs "real" inflation.

Yes and the cumulative rate for wage growth is higher than the cumulative rate for inflation. I just said this.

If this was true, then why are people struggling financially so bad. People would not balk at the price of a new Tacoma.

Again, real wages are not keeping up with real inflation. Real inflation also calculates in interest costs like financing at 7% vs financing at 3%.

Dude I'm just pointing to the actual statistics while you're talking about some anecdotal stuff. Think whatever you want.

The federal funds rate has not a single thing to do with inflation. You are woefully misinformed.

Of course it does. Financing a new tacoma at 7% vs 3% takes a wage and makes it go...poof.

    I'm an economist. LOL...

Brother, I am an economist. Inflation has never in the history of the world included the FFR. Please, show me.

I know. You have an inversion to the "real" part of every metric.
